Shokei Gakuin University is located in Natori City, a suburb south of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Sendai is the second-largest city in Northern Japan. The campus is in a natural setting on a hill that overlooks Sendai City, the Pacific Ocean, and the Zao mountain range.
Shokei Gakuin University has the Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences consisting of six Departments: Dept. of Culture and Communication Activities, Dept. of Human Psychology, Dept. for the Scientific Study of Children, Dept. for the Study of Contemporary Society, Dept. of Life Environment Studies, and Dept. of Human Health and Nutrition. Shokei Gakuin University also has the Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences.
To study the human mind and spirit gives one the power to change the future. By examining these worlds, we will discover clues that will lead us to a deeper understanding of our "problem society". We investigate the human mind /spirit and the human body to bring back vital humanity. In the Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences, the human being is seen as an integration of mind and body. To bring back the humanity the present-day society seems to be slowly taking away from us, we must have healthy minds and bodies. With this in mind, the Faculty of Comprehensive Human Sciences applies scientific methods to uncover how human beings might live in our world.
In keeping with our efforts to develop dedicated internationally-minded citizens who can contribute to the global society of the 21st century, we are seeking applicants who have a particular interest in the cultures and traditions of Japan and other nations and who have clear goals and healthy academic initiatives and abilities.
In order to confirm the applicant's adaptability to academic requirements at Shokei, we ask that the applicant submits his/her scores from department-specified subjects on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU). Additionally, we will use a short essay and interview to make a comprehensive assessment of the applicant's academic goals, enthusiasm for learning, and compatibility with Shokei University requirements.
In the current age of lifelong learning, an increasing number of working adults show interest in college education. We are looking for applicants whose workforce experience has led them to seek further education and whose drive and ability make it possible to do so at our school. We seek applicants with exceptional athletic ability and leadership qualities, who have been recommended by the principal of their high school, and who show clear goals and healthy academic initiative and ability.
