Momoyama Gakuin University was founded in 1959. Nearly 7,000 undergraduate students study at the Faculties of Economics, Sociology, Management, International Studies and Liberal Arts, and Law.
Momoyama Gakuin University, which is just one part of the educational foundation known collectively as Momoyama Gakuin, has its roots in the Christian evangelizing activity begun in Japan in 1869 by the Church Missionary Society of England. The Rev. C. F. Warren and other missionaries who arrived in Japan in 1873 strongly felt the importance of education for the future of Japan, and in 1884 opened a school for boys in one of the Holy Trinity Church rooms, Osaka. Ever since, despite the tumultuous events of the past several decades, the Christian ethos that cherishes love and freedom has been sustained by Momoyama Gakuin, and it flourishes today on the campus of Momoyama Gakuin University.
Our educational principle is "Fostering Citizens of the World Based on Christian Humanities," and our vision is "Supporting people in the region and the world." We are educating students to adjust themselves to any community and support local people within Japan and abroad.
We provide a variety of experience-oriented programs both inside and outside of Japan. Many students participate in overseas programs, from language courses to volunteer programs to business internships, thus experiencing different cultures. Moreover, about 100 international students from over 20 countries and areas join our university every year.
Global society is a society that various individuals can live together. We hope that students learn to cooperate with people of different backgrounds such as race, religion, and culture, while they acquire the power of knowledge and enthusiasm to clear the path of lives.
At Momoyama Gakuin University, make new friends, broaden your mind, and enrich your world. While becoming an independent and free human being, respect the individuality and human dignity of others. Think of yourself as a member of human society, setting aside all barriers of race and nationality. In other words, seek to become a "Citizen of the World". Momoyama Gakuin University's educational philosophy fosters people who can genuinely call themselves "Citizens of the World".
