The study of pharmaceutical sciences and natural medicine has been deeply ingrained within the Kaga Domain's history, or Ishikawa Prefecture, since Maeda Toshiie and the Maeda Clan entered Kanazawa 1583. With this long history, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Hokuriku University was established in 1975 under the guiding principles of "to love nature, respect life, and seek the truth." Since its establishment, we have been passionate about nurturing pharmacists who can contribute to society in the medical, health, and environmental fields through education and research. In 2004, the School of Future Learning (Departments in International Management and International Liberal Arts) was founded to educate students with strong communication skills, a deep understanding and appreciation of business and law, well-rounded character, and being internationally minded.
Our liberal arts education provides a wide array of opportunities for students to engage their physical and emotional senses through sports, reading, arts, and various cultural activities.

Each year during the summer holidays between August and September, we offer short cultural programs for all students regardless of faculty or significance. Students spend anywhere from one week to three weeks visiting our overseas partner universities. Students learn and experience the local culture and see the sights allowing them to broaden their horizons. All programs are subsidized by the university, allowing students to experience life overseas at an extremely reasonable cost.
Each year, we provide opportunities for students to study for one-month, six-months, or one-year at any of our overseas partner universities in Australia, the U.S.A., New Zealand, England, or China. Students who receive credits for their overseas studies can transfer those credits upon returning to Japan, allowing even those who have studied for six-months or one-year to graduate after four years of study.

- To produce world-class pharmacists who have compassion and awareness and the skills and knowledge required to contribute to medical welfare.
- To provide students with sound knowledge and skills in both Western and Eastern medical fields.
- To provide a curriculum that fully prepares students to gain the qualifications required to practice as pharmacists in Japan.
