    The mission of Universitas Muhammadiyan Yogyakarta is to be a leading University through developing knowledge and technology based on Islamic values to contribute to a good society. To produce graduates who are noble, confident, and capable of fostering science and technology and value to the nation and humanity.

    Our Missions are:

    • To enhance human dignity as an effort to reinforce the values of humanity and civilization.
    • To play essential roles as the development center of Muhammadiyah in nurturing people towards a prosperous and dignified life.
    • To support the development of Yogyakarta as a region appreciating cultural diversity.
    • To educate people, to conduct research, and to empower the community.
    • To create graduates who are religious, pious, noble, insightful, professional, and highly capable of sciences and technology.

    Our Objectives:

    • To enhance science and technology based on Islamic teachings and foster sincerity in performing Amar ma'ruf nahi Munkar (to command the good and forbid the evil) for the nation's development.
    • To provide degree programs capable of producing professionals equipped with the necessary skills and values in meeting the national and international job markets' demands.
    • To conduct researches for national and international references.
    • To enhance the Islamic academic community upholding truth, fairness, honesty, sincerity, and responsive to changes.
    • To create an academic atmosphere triggering open, critical-constructive, and innovative thoughts.
    • To provide an efficient service system for stakeholders.
    • To afford resources that can be accessed by higher education, governmental agencies, private agencies, industries, and the public to support the efforts of promoting the fields of Islam, society, economy, politics, law, technology, health, and culture of Indonesia.
    • To expand cooperation with various national and international institutions to advance education, research, management, and services.
    • To produce graduates with Islamic integrity and morality in their respective social, economic, and political life.

    The logo of UMY is derived from the logo of the Muhammadiyah organization. The UMY logo has a sun emitting twelve yellow lights. At the center of the sun, the word "Muhammad" was written in Arabic, which means Muhammad's followers. UMY's flag is colored green with the logo of UMY and writings in gold. Here are the faculty flag colors: Unggul dan Islami (Excellence and Islamic values) are the guiding principles of UMY's staff, faculty, and Administration unified in achieving the University goal.

    As an educational institution, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) focuses not only on learning through the teaching process but also on cooperation with other educational, governmental, and private institutions and industries both in Indonesia and abroad. The cooperation aims to fortify the University's efforts in producing young and globally competitive (Muda Mendunia) citizens. UMY is a well-structured organization. The Administration and the various academic and non-academic units of the University are harmonized and hand in hand to achieve UMY's vision.

    The Decree issued by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education No. 061/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-IV/PT/II/2013 declares that Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is an accredited 'A' academic institution. This proves that the public acknowledges UMY as an International Accredited Agency where QS Stars granted UMY 5 Stars for Facilities, Social Responsibility, and Inclusiveness, 4 Stars for Teaching, and 3 Stars for Employability.
