Engineering, economics and management, social and nursing sciences make up the pillars of teaching at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences. More than 6,200 students are enrolled in 11 faculties, offering 26 bachelors and 13 Master's degree programs. Close networking of the University with the economy, industrial and commercial organizations ensures a high degree of practical orientation within a distinct curriculum. Students have access to over 55 highly modern laboratories on three campuses carrying out development projects commissioned by industry - interdisciplinary research on leading-edge topics in Social Work and Health is conducted with an extensive institutional network.

The Hochschule Esslingen is therefore committed to providing both working and study conditions that encourage family life. The designation "Familiengerechte Hochschule "(family-friendly university) was awarded to the university by the organization "Beruf- und Familie gGmbH" (non-profit work and family corporation).
Universities have looked for sustainable measures over recent years, promoting ways to create family-friendly working and study conditions. These conditions should be adapted to the nature of the work and the working conditions at the University. The "Family-friendly University "audit, an initiative set up by the charitable Hertie Foundation, has been developed together with the University of Trier for that purpose. Its goal is to allow students and staff to balance university interests and family concerns and anchor it over the long-term in university policy.
On 31 August 2006, the Hochschule Esslingen was presented with the necessary career and family audit certificate. It certifies that the University has undergone the implementation process and has worked out specific goals and activities for a family-aware staff policy and family-friendly study conditions. In 2009, a re-audit checked how successful the realization was and where possibly more or new steps should be taken.
The Mission Statement of Esslingen University of Applied Sciences was unanimously resolved by the Senate on 18 January 2011.
With our three engineering, management, and social sciences, we are one of Germany's leading universities.
