In keeping with French Engineering schools (grandes écoles d'ingénieurs), Centrale Nantes, founded in 1919, trains versatile engineers to a very high scientific and technical level. Equipped with a strong managerial culture, they can place scientific subjects into a global context incorporating environmental and societal issues. As a member of the Ecoles Centrales Group (Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, and Paris), Centrale Nantes delivers a teaching program of the highest quality to rigorously selected students. Over 2000 students are present on the Nantes campus.
Our extensive links with the world's top universities open up international study opportunities. The School belongs to one of the most exclusive networks, which is ever-expanding, particularly towards India, Japan, Brazil, and Russia.
Beyond this renowned training, with the support of numerous strong institutional and industrial partnerships, Centrale Nantes produces world-class academic and applied research. Research and education have always gone hand in hand at the School. This osmosis between education and research will be valuable, beneficial, and a guarantee of quality in your studies at Centrale Nantes.
At Centrale Nantes, you will be in tune with the financial world, at the very heart of innovation. In a spirit of innovative exploration, entrepreneurship, and practical application, our training will confront you with the significant challenges of the 21st century, combining theory and "doing."
Centrale Nantes has two primary tools for innovation and creation: unrivaled research platforms (ocean test facilities, dynamic and static testing, rapid manufacturing, engine test benches, etc.) and an incubator with 20 years of experience in supporting startup projects. Since an engineer develops products for society, you will learn how companies work and develop your ability to create, develop, and manage them. The Centrale Audencia ensa Nantes Business Incubator is there to help those who wish to start your own company.
What matters most to us, beyond imparting knowledge, is to support you in your personal and career development plans, whether they be already well-defined or yet to be broached. For this reason, each training program is different, and the coaching that you will benefit from here will enhance your personal growth and career development.
For nearly one century, from Institut Polytechnique de l'Ouest to Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique to Centrale Nantes today, the School has demonstrated its ability and willingness to evolve and transform continuously. And this, with the strong commitment to remain in step with global technical and economic developments.
Centrale Nantes has a mindset and a mode of operation oriented towards exploration, entrepreneurial spirit, and practical application, from theory to the design of solutions adapted to economic challenges and industrial players. Our programs prompt students to reflect on the significant societal challenges of the 21st century. Among these, the three significant growth and innovation challenges of the energy transition, manufacturing, and healthcare emerge and structure the curriculum.
In a progressive environment, where the professions of tomorrow will rely on knowledge that does not exist today, and where this reality is revitalized by globalization that requires careful observation of a perpetually changing context, Centrale Nantes strives to share with its students, teachers, researchers, staff, and all its partners three fundamental values.
Beyond its necessary contribution to the creation of the wealth of a structure, engineers, as well as teachers and researchers, have the moral duty to be responsible actors for the future of the planet, for social equilibrium through job creation, for the professional well-being of their employees, and to participate in the responsible edification of the city, it is social as well as entrepreneurial fabric.
The message of the School is not only that of corporate social responsibility, but also that of ethics: to provide meaning to one's professional activity, a meaning that can even surpass the self, but that carries the vision that man is at the center of a world which, without ethics, could be under threat.
In 2014, a significant debate was organized at the School on the following question: "engineer and citizen or citizen engineer"? The participating students and staff's response was almost unanimous: an engineer must be intrinsically citizen; the two are inseparable.
While preserving their personality and autonomy, the five Centrale Schools: Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Marseille, and Supélec (Paris) chose to join forces within Ecoles Centrale Group in 1990. This grouping allows, first of all, better visibility of these institutions vis-à-vis institutions and industry. In this sense, it fosters collaborations with companies. Thanks to the Centrale Group, our engineering students have to access a wider choice of courses with the possibility of completing their final year in one of the other schools.
The Centrale Schools share a common ethic on the training of versatile high-level engineers for industry.
