The Rectorate is the governing body of the University of Teacher Education Tyrol. It designs the strategic guidelines for the university. The responsibilities of the Rectorate include the organization plan, the target and performance plan, the appointment of staff, the admission of students, the resource plan, the internal budget allocation, or the organization of evaluations.
The Pädagogische Hochschule Tirol (PHT) is a federal institution. Its task is to create, offer, and carry out scientifically sound vocational training courses in the fields of education and training in pedagogical occupational fields, especially in apprenticeships. It takes account of the teaching profession's requirements through offers of human science, subject-specific, didactic, pedagogical, and practical school education, which is ensured by the leadership of practice schools.

It takes account of the requirements of the teaching profession through offers of human science, subject-specific, didactic, pedagogical, and practical school education, which is ensured by the leadership of practice schools. It serves to professionalize the teaching profession in the sense of lifelong learning.
The PHT is characterized by a comprehensive and up-to-date continuing education program adapted to the needs of the Tyrolean school for all teachers.
Besides, further education and training courses are also offered and conducted at PHT in general pedagogical matters for the care of children and adolescents and adult education.
The PHT conveys through the school or professional practice as well as through scientific-occupational field-related research and teaching the ability to responsibly exercise occupations in educational occupations, including vocational education.
Even though PHT is a public institution, it is oriented towards the needs of the education market in Tyrol and the use of graduates in European educational areas, despite free access to higher education. Both the wishes of schools, kindergartens, and the school administrations as main customers, as well as education concerns from the economy or adult education, are regarded as an impetus for the further development of the educational offers in public as well as in the partially protected area of the university.
We convey a holistic view of humanity based on respect for the uniqueness of the individual. Therefore, we promote the respective investments, interests, and inclinations of our members.
We provide well-founded specialist knowledge based on the latest scientific findings and comprehensive teaching and consulting skills. In this way, we ensure that the Austrian teacher and teacher education guarantees the quality of teaching at the Austrian schools.
We regard curiosity and enjoyment of knowledge acquisition and social learning as the basis for the readiness for lifelong learning. In order for the graduates of our PHT to be able to realize this in their professional activities, we tune our courses in terms of content and methodology.
Teacher training and further education is for us a fountain of youth, in which curiosity and joy are revived again and again. We see health, job satisfaction, and quality of teaching in mutual interaction.
We take responsibility for the development of society through a contemporary professionalization of teachers. They are up to social challenges and can fulfill their teaching and educational duties and tasks perfectly. This includes a value and meaning orientation. Accordingly, we orient our study programs on the transfer of new, scientifically sound, career-related insights into the educational world of work.
We conduct our study programs in education and training following internationally recognized academic standards at the university level. We ensure intensive practical relevance in all areas of our training and education programs.
We strengthen our regional identity as the roots of our being and promote ourselves as "active citizens" in Austria, Europe, and the world.
We support European and international cooperation in research and teaching through cooperation and participation in Austrian, European, and international education and research programs. The consolidation of the European dimension in school and society is of particular concern to us. All university members have access to the possibilities of national and international mobility in the field of pedagogical vocational training. We warmly welcome our partners in lecturers, students, and university administration, enabling them to exchange experiences and integrate into our university.
We know that learning is a highly personal development process. The lecturers of our university, therefore, take the freedom of study of the students and the participants in the continuing education and training courses of the PHT in their teaching and learning aids seriously.
We also measure the value of study and continuing education programs by how far they are applicable in professional education practice.
We participate in the development of schools through research in scientific research, practical work, and social and educational policy issues.
We are aware that the taxpayers' taxes fund PHT. From this, we derive a particular commitment to the industrial, economic, and appropriate use of resources for all our actions. Lean management in the administration of PHT is an expression of this. The principles of efficiency and effectiveness guide all our work. Since our task is education, we set these standards by using the existing human, financial and spatial resources to sustainably initiate educational processes among the students in training, further education, and training and lead to measurable results. In terms of lifelong learning, all education, training, and further education are regarded as equal parts. We see ourselves as a learning organization where shared values and a shared understanding of quality are lived. Internal and external evaluations are, therefore, a natural element of our professionalism in order to continuously increase the efficiency and effectiveness of our actions as a field of our personal and institutional learning. As a PHT member, every one of us wants to grow in our expertise and personality through a good quality assurance system. Through this lifelong personal maturity in its entire personality, each member of PHT contributes to strengthening the image of the teaching profession in public.
