- The University of Veliko Turnovo was founded in 1963, as Brothers Cyril and Methodius Higher Institute of Education. On 14 October 1971, it was established as Bulgaria's second University under its current name St Cyril and St Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo. Today St Cyril and the St. Methodius University of Veliko Turnovo, the largest Bulgarian University outside of Sofia, is a highly-respected center for fine arts and the humanities, enjoying both a national and international reputation and maintaining a wide range of international contacts around the world. The University Academic Council strives to respond successfully to the European requirements for accessible higher education and ensure lifelong learning conditions. We aim to facilitate and promote students' mobility from different countries and universities through the credit accumulation and transfer system and the implementation of different opportunities for study, training, and research.
