Set up in 1990, in the 26 years of existence, "Vasile Goldis" the Western University of Arad has become a fortress of Transylvanian and Euro-regional science and culture, integrated into the European space of research and education, is affiliated to international organizations among which: The European Universities Association – EUA, Magna Charta Observatory, "Carolus Magnus" European Consortium, Danubian Rector's Conference – DRC, Association of Trans-Carpathian Universities, The International Association of University Presidents – IAUP, The European Academy of Sciences and Arts of Salzburg – Austria, the Euro-Asian Universities Union – EURAS and holds the vice-presidency of the European Federation of Schools – FEDE, institution that participates to the work sessions of the European Council. Under the auspices of the University Senate, the integration of scientific research with university education and professional practice is provided by increasing the academic quality in a pluridisciplinary, innovative and multicultural dimension, carried out in real laboratories of research and scientific training: The Institute of Life Sciences, The Technological and Business Incubator ITA, the Socio-Humanistic Research Center, The Jewish Studies Center, the Romanian-Brazilian Center, The Italian Cultural Center, The "Fr. Schiller" Center of German Studies. Nowadays, "The Vasile Goldis" Western University of Arad, as a postmodern academic institution, of Humboldtian type constitutes a forum of free ideas, a communion of education in the spirit of truth, right, beauty, civic and democratic ideals and an iconic landmark regarding the way of guaranteeing quality. Our University's institutional development is and shall remain a meritorious one, organically connected to its spiritual mentor's expectations, Vasile Goldis, to the local community's founding members, to the outstanding teaching staff, students, undergraduates, Ph.D. candidates, and post-doctorate students. The prestige "Vasile Goldis" Western University boasts abroad has been emphasized by many foreign students coming to study and enrolling in different study programs. Young people from Italy, France, Morocco, India, Israel, Turkey, Germany, Austria, Algeria, Tunis, Hungaria, Sweden, and other parts of the world are currently studying medicine in Romanian, French, and English. Faithful to its traditional creed "By ourselves!" the gates of the University of Arad are widely open to all youngsters who want to attend higher educational studies, to the members and organizations of the communities of Arad who have supported and backed the development of an academic community institution like ours. I also want to thank all those who share the philosophy of the spiritual patron of UVVG, and I, therefore, invite them, with gratitude, to share the joys and challenges with the academic staff of the University, by participating in different scientific and cultural manifestations organized in the lecture halls of the University Campus. "Vasile Alecsandri" the University of Bacau is a crucial constituent part of the Romanian educational system. Its achievements are nationally and internationally acknowledged for the quality of its academic and research activity. "Vasile Alecsandri" University of Bacau is situated in Central Moldavia, in Bacau, the capital of Bacau's county. The town has a population of 134 000 inhabitants and a long history, as it is one of the oldest in Romania. The first documents attesting to the town's existence were issued during the reign of Alexandru cel Bun and date back to 1408. The town is situated at the crossroads of national and international transport corridors that connect Bucharest with the northern part of the country and Moldavia with Transylvania. The University emerged and has developed an organic connection with the region's historical and cultural traditions. In 1961, the Pedagogical Institute was founded. It had three faculties: Humanities, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences. The Faculty of History and Geography and the Faculty of Physical Education was added in 1964 in 1976, the Faculty of Engineering is founded (its first study program was Machine-building Technology). In the same year, the Pedagogical Institute becomes the Institute of Higher Education of Bacau. In 1984, the Institute of Higher Education of Bacau was transformed into a Sub-engineers' Institute, under the guidance and administration of the Polytechnical Institute of Iaşi. In 1985, the study programs Inorganic Chemistry Technology, and, in 1986, Power Networks were transferred from the Polytechnical Institute of Iaşi to the Sub-engineers' Institute of Bacau.
