At Utsunomiya University (UDAI), we cherish the "3C Spirit." The 3 C's are "Challenge," "Change," and "Contribution." We are pioneering a bright future by actively challenging new things, constantly changing ourselves to adapt to these changing times, and generously contributing to our society. We firmly resolve to cultivate this spirit and make it a vital part of our University's culture. We, both students and faculty, working together, will be at the forefront of our future society. To reach this goal, we are improving our education system with new programs so that our students can develop "Active Intelligence." One of these new programs is the nationally-famous English Program of Utsunomiya University (EPUU). Another is "Active Learning," a method incorporated into many of the subjects offered here, which changes learning from a passive process into an exciting activity where students deepen their thinking by proactively discussing specific issues among themselves. Taking advantage of this University's medium size with limited student numbers, the faculty and students can meet face to face. This allows us to provide individual guidance to each student effectively. Furthermore, from 2016 and the School of International Studies, the School of Education, the School of Engineering, and the School of Agriculture, we established a new faculty, the School of Regional Design. Utsunomiya University is evolving by incorporating the "3C Spirit" to provide education that corresponds to our changing world. The expansive University campuses are situated in a natural setting abounding in greenery. There are restaurants, a shopping mall, a cinema complex, and other amenities located nearby. Students can live comfortably and enjoy themselves while studying at the University. Utsunomiya University's fundamental mission is to improve humanity's welfare and contribute to world peace through outstanding high-quality education and research as an institution open to society. To achieve this goal, we have established the following three fundamental policies. Utsunomiya University will offer its students abroad in-depth education and practical expertise to develop the abilities and skills necessary to open new doors to the future. Utsunomiya University will promote top-level research focused on the development of a sustainable society. Utsunomiya University will aggressively expand activities that learn from and contribute to the local community and the international community. Utsunomiya University aims to develop professionally trained students in their field of study and can make well-balanced decisions based on a broad vision and compassion for humanity. Specifically: Utsunomiya University's general education program provides the literacy needed in this modern society, broad, in-depth education and deep compassion for humanity, plus the integration of knowledge and the ability to take action. Utsunomiya University provides the specialized education needed to enable students to acquire practical and professional knowledge. Both of the above are intricately linked through four years of education so that students will develop the problem-solving skills necessary to pave the way to a "New Society." Finding a job after you graduate is important. To support your career choice, Utsunomiya University has established the Center for Career Education and Services. Six full-time professional staff members are there to help you effectively plan your four years at the University so that you can find work in the field of your choice.
