  1. Tilburg University contributes to solving social issues. We achieve this mainly by developing and transferring knowledge and bringing together people from various disciplines and organizations. Therefore we have invited companies, organizations, government, and citizens to work together to develop new insights and solutions that create value for society. We create this innovation by conducting research, by learning, and by understanding. Understanding Society. Quality of education, social orientation, and a strong campus feeling form the basis of our education. Our green campus offers an attractive basis for fostering an international community where students and teachers can inspire and challenge each other and obtain knowledge. Our research links up with the existing, complex societal issue. They require an integrated approach involving various academic disciplines. Our disciplines of economics, law, catholic theology, social and behavioral sciences, and humanities contribute each in their way to Understanding Society. Every four years, Tilburg University outlines its policy in a Strategy. It sets out the principal themes and formulates ambitions for the next four years. The Strategy 2018-2021 is the consolidated result of concerted action during the first six months of 2017. During this period, both internal and external stakeholders were consulted extensively to develop a broadly endorsed vision and strategy for its future. To accomplish our mission and implement our vision, we have formulated ambitions for our three primary processes, i.e., education, research, and impact generation, and a strategy and objectives for growth, location, culture & governance, and operational excellence. To make the values and standards at our university explicit, a Code of Conduct has been drafted. In this code, the values that inspire working and studying at Tilburg University are described. It is a framework for reflection on the university's core values and describes the requirements regarding employees' and students' conduct. The Code of Conduct offers room to call one another to account. Specific rules of conduct are laid down in different regulations, which are referred to below. These regulations contain complaint procedures and provide possibilities to impose sanctions. What do we train our students for? While the answer to this question changes over the years, it is always linked to our university's tradition – a university of humanities and social sciences. This tradition is one of involvement in and commitment to society. That is why the Tilburg Educational Vision's core characteristic is that we train our students to become 'thinkers aspiring to work for the benefit of their community, their society, and humanity as a whole,' in other words, to become 'thinkers of character.' The label's knowledge, skills, and character succinctly express what makes Tilburg University distinctive in the Educational Vision. Students or alumni of Tilburg University stand out from others by their commitment to making a valuable contribution to our society. "Tilburg University is student-centric: The programs are entirely at the service of committed students who feel attracted to the moral duty we set ourselves and who (together with us) want to work towards improving the quality and sustainability of present-day societies based on scientific insights." "We use 'scalable teaching concepts,' tutor- and mentor groups, and make sure that students and teachers get the opportunity to build a personal relationship, which is essential for the transfer of knowledge, for practicing skills, and building character." We believe in a society where all people live a good life together in an ever-changing world. And we believe we have a responsibility to make this happen. That is Understanding Society. Tilburg University, the Institutional Quality Assurance Label. This label "expresses that the accreditation organization has positively assessed the internal quality care and the efforts of an institution for higher education to improve its performance about the quality of its programs." Tilburg University is home to a vibrant and stimulating quality culture and has a relevant and widely supported vision on educational quality. The NVAO panel expressed its appreciation for Tilburg University's quality policy's consistency, for example, in the development of research-based learning at the Tilburg School of Economics and Management.
