Vision Statement is Thornlie Christian College seeks to develop people of influence who engage life from a Christian world view, providing them with the skills to succeed in their life and calling. Our goal is to offer a quality Christian education where students learn the importance of academics, balanced spiritual life, and self-discipline. Mission Statement is all its endeavors, the Learning Community of Thornlie Christian College seeks first the Kingdom of God while providing an environment where: Members are encouraged to value and engage in learning Members are encouraged to achieve their full spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and social potential The unique gifts bestowed on our members are identified and developed for service The curriculum is presented from a Biblical perspective Christian faith and discipleship are nurtured. Thornlie Christian College is a ministry of Thornlie Church of Christ that grew out of a vision held by its members to establish a Christian school based on Christian principles. The College's goal was to offer a quality Christian education where students learn the importance of academic performance, balanced spiritual life, and self-discipline. It is from this that we derive our motto, "Learning for Life." Founded in 1984, the College has become an interdenominational Christian College that provides a complete Christian education from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College produces high caliber graduates and, through its commitment to individualized pastoral care and its students' learning needs, has built a reputation for excellence. We recognize that an effective partnership with the family is necessary to ensure success in achieving our objectives. To this end, parents are encouraged to participate in the life of the College in several ways, including helping out in the classrooms, supporting College activities and the Parents in Action Committee, joining the College prayer group, providing opportunities for work experience placement, attending weekly assemblies, or volunteering to help in the Library or Office. The College is a close-knit community, and our partnership with parents helps build and maintain a joint commitment to offering students the best possible educational opportunities. Provide a curriculum that teaches students to think like a Christian and develop a biblical worldview against which life's issues can be measured. Guide students in growing towards Christian maturity and instill in them the principles of Christian living. Provide an environment where every student is encouraged to come to a saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Promote self-discipline through goal setting, responsibility, self-motivation, and self-management. Assist in personal development, emphasizing those characteristics that are important for meaningful relationships and successful socialization. Emphasize the unique nature of each child as a creation of God. Develop an understanding of our relationship with our fellow human beings and appreciate the individual student's place within God's eternal purpose and plan. Provide a range of educational experiences and training, allowing each student to discover and develop their gifts and talents. Create opportunities for the involvement of parents and community members in the life and activities of the College. Integrate local community and career-related experiences into the curriculum of our students. Teach the principles of leadership, the dynamics of interpersonal relationships, and the biblical standards required of a Christian leader. Assist every student in embracing 21st Century Learning by developing their analytical, creative, collaborative, and problem-solving skills that can be applied across a range of learning and life experiences.
