  1. We are a vibrant, diverse, friendly school in Heston, west London, and are currently in a consultation period to amalgamate with our neighboring infant school from September 2019. Springwell is a diverse, vibrant community where every child is valued equally, regardless of their social, cultural, religious, or ethnic background. Our goal is to create a culture of learning and mutual respect that enables pupils to develop into confident, independent learners who are also considerate, outward-looking citizens ready to embrace the challenges of modern life. We have the highest expectations of our children because we believe they have the same potential to achieve great things as any other child in the country. We know that our pupils are highly motivated and learn best when they face a wide range of challenges without the fear of failure. We encourage them to solve tricky problems or produce original ideas by exploring different possibilities, making connections with the real world, and taking creative risks. We help them to deepen their thinking and enhance social skills such as empathy and teamwork through a cooperative approach that requires them regularly to share ideas and listen respectfully to each other. We encourage them to reflect on their learning and that of their peers to recognize and celebrate successes, and to learn lessons from mistakes. We provide opportunities for children to take on responsibilities and leadership roles in class and across the school that encourage a community spirit, and we ensure that their experiences inside and outside the classroom go beyond National Curriculum requirements. Through building resilience, feeding creativity, and promoting cooperation we enable our children to continually achieve more than anything they have done before. We also make sure that every day we laugh, have fun, and celebrate together. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, providing an environment in which our children enjoy school, love learning, and look forward to the next steps in their lives.
  2. Creativity and excellence are at the heart of everything we do at Springwell Infant School. Children are encouraged to work to the best of their abilities. The academic curriculum offers challenge through innovative teaching and projects, which focuses on developing the talents of each child. Our aim is that as the children grow in confidence, so does their desire to question and discuss, to reflect, and apply their learning. Our distinctive approach to learning, with the creative arts at its core, helps children excel academically. Learning through doing, through collaboration, through linking subjects in topic-based learning, all lie at the heart of our educational ethos. Our teachers are inspiring, academically rigorous, and committed to supporting the children’s emotional and academic development. Teachers and teaching assistants are attracted here by both our educational philosophy and our outstanding reputation for professional development. With an excellent and large staff team, our pupils are given the capacity to learn, and also to grow as individuals, to express themselves, to explore, to search, and to discover. The large sports program, the creative and performing arts, and an ever-changing diverse wealth of activities on offer ensure that every child can develop new skills and new interests important to them. Through every strand of school life, we aim to promote our school ethos, which is tied fundamentally to the UN Rights of the child. Children learn the importance of respect, fairness, equality, democracy, tolerance, and kindness. A global understanding is nurtured through learning about our diverse community, international links, and regular charity projects. Children leave Springwell Infants academically ready for Junior education but also spiritually, morally, and culturally prepared to take on the next opportunities, responsibilities, and challenges that life offers. We are committed to ensuring that children develop the skills and acquire the knowledge to meet and surpass curriculum requirements. We set high standards, and we are focused on our efforts to help children meet those standards. We are also sensitive to the needs and learning patterns of different children and we try to inspire them to recognize their potential and work towards achieving these.
