  1. Most non-government schools in Australia are affiliated with a religious denomination such as Catholic schools and Anglican schools. Our school is non-denominational. That means our staff attends different churches, and our school is not aligned with one denomination. When we use the term "Christian," we refer to the accounts of Jesus Christ found in the Bible. Jesus Christ said and did many remarkable things, but the most fantastic thing that he did for us is that he died on the cross to have a relationship with God through faith. If you have a moment, the best video we have found explains this is called "Falling Plates. " Christians believe that faith in Jesus answers the big questions in life, and it also compels us to be loving and generous to the people around us. Ultimately, we want to tell other people about Jesus, and we want to make a positive impact in the world if you have never considered the Christian faith's claims. The Preschool at Australian Christian College runs a 15-hour government-funded Kindergarten Program and a three-year-old Pre-Kinder Program. The Kindergarten Program provides a gentle transition into school life and preparing Prep, thus increasing the chances that your child will have a positive start at school. A qualified early childhood teacher leads the program, and the children are involved in readiness skills to prepare them for Prep. The benefits of Kinder include: Your child enjoys a gentle transition into the education process. It increases your child's ability to achieve success in Prep. Your child will develop relationships with his or her peers, 'buddies,' and teachers. Your child will gain knowledge of the layout and the routines of the school so that Prep does not become a frightening prospect for them. Potential cost savings, as the Kinder fees are generally significantly lower than other services available. It introduces your children to Christian values at an earlier stage in their education. While the Kinder program is predominantly play-based, children also participate in: Introduction to Literacy Introduction to Mathematics – numbers, patterns, sorting, days of the week, months of the year, etc. Gross motor skills development, e.g., ball skills Fine motor skills development, e.g., writing, arts, and craft. School Services involving singing, Bible stories, prayer, singing the National Anthem, and raising the Australian flag Performances include singing, dance, actions, costumes, instruments. The children attend classes alongside the mainstream primary classes and participate in weekly School Services and performances at the end of the first and third terms. Australian Christian College proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all aspects of school life. As such, our Christian faith underpins the learning program. As a result of attending this school, your child will become an 'investigative learner' who seeks answers, research thoroughly, explore new ways, create alternatives, challenge assumptions, think profoundly, and test theories. This approach to education ensures your child's brain is not merely filled with knowledge but that he or she gains a deeper understanding of the subject matter. Australian Christian College operates a three and four-year-old Kindergarten. The four-year-old program is funded and conforms to the Commonwealth Government's Early Years Learning Framework. After Kindergarten, your child's learning program continues from Prep to Year 6. The learning program has a rigorous emphasis on the core subjects of Maths and English. Your child will also study Humanities, Science, Health & Physical Education, Art, Music, Drama, Japanese, and Bible during their time at Australian Christian College. A great experience in the first years of schooling can make all of the difference as your child develops. View full school
