Fujitsu Gakuen was established as Okayama Women's School of Practice in 1904 and has developed, educated, and graduated students throughout its long history who have excelled as capable members of society. Based on this founding principle, Shujitsu Gakuen provides integrated, high-quality education to young children and adults in graduate school. "Kyoka-Shujitsu" is a Chinese expression that means "not to pursue external beauty and vanity, but to pursue internal self-worth". It can be traced back to a passage from the Emperor's Rescript of 1908. The school name, "Shujitsu," which has been used since 1911, originates from this expression. Fujitsu University and Junior College are conveniently located in Okayama, at an important crossroads between the Chugoku and Shikoku regions. Fujitsu University, a comprehensive educational institution at the center of a region with a long and distinguished history and strong traditions, celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2014. The university includes a Faculty of Human Studies, a School of Pharmacy, a Faculty of Education, a Faculty of Business Administration, three graduate schools, and a junior college. It has an active and studious student body of approximately 3,000 graduate, university, college, and international students. Our educational goals are codified in the phrase "Developing capable and talented individuals." Faculty and staff members cooperate and make intense efforts to develop self-directed individuals with the practical skills to make proper judgments and the ability to take appropriate action regarding the various circumstances they encounter. Concretely speaking, as an institution of higher learning, we carry out educational activities based on a rigorous diploma and curriculum policy and attempt to sustain the highest level of student satisfaction through comprehensive student support services.
