The University consists of 7 faculties, 144 departments, Institute of Professional Education, Sechenov University branch in Baku (Azerbaijan), 5 Research Institutes, 25 Scientific & Educational Clinical Centers, Simulation Center with Virtual Hospital "Mentor Medicus," Surgical Skills Simulation Center "Praxi Medica," Central Scientific Medical Library with 22 multi-field hospitals. The University maintains partnerships with different foreign universities and organizations. Students have an opportunity to do internships/clerkships in international clinics. Sechenov University is the oldest Russian medical educational institution providing training in a full range of specialties related to medicine and healthcare." School - University - Clinic" model of medical education allows for an effective, self-regulating system of continuous education and professional continuum in healthcare. The Sechenov Pre-university offers high schoolers of the 10th and 11th grade an opportunity to combine the general secondary education program with the university profession-oriented classes, research projects in modern biological and chemical laboratories, practice under the program of early professional orientation "Step into medicine" using phantoms and simulation technologies for care and communication with patients as well as first aid emergency exercises. Sechenov University, in cooperation with the Moscow Department of Education, created a system of profession-oriented medical classes in public secondary schools as part of the pre-university training. The main objective of training in these classes is to provide students with the possibility of a conscious choice of profession. Higher education programs of all existing levels are implemented at the Sechenov University: from an undergraduate, specialist, and master programs to clinical residency programs and CME. All proprietary courses are catered by the University's licensed faculty (about 90% of lecturers have postgraduate degrees) at up-to-date training facilities, including teaching hospitals and pharmaceutical labs. The international student community is subdivided into academic groups of seven to ten persons. The second-year medical students attend clinics where they practice nursing. Clinical subjects are taught from the third year of study. All Sechenov Universirty's facilities are accessible for students throughout the course. Students fond of research activities are welcome to join scientific societies that work within all university chairs. This is the best way of sharpening professional expertise and research skills, which are essential throughout the degree studies. Studies may be complemented with a variety of cultural entertainments and sports. These feature two students' theatres and a stadium with a full-size football pitch, track-n-field facilities, tennis, badminton, volleyball grounds (indoor and outdoor), and other sports amenities.
