      1. Located on a picturesque campus in the historic city of Newport, R.I., Salve Regina University is a Catholic, coeducational university founded by the Sisters of Mercy. The University offers a comprehensive education with a liberal arts foundation that fosters each student's talents. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the University enrolls more than 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students from across the U.S. and around the world. Salve Regina's diverse range of academic programs is complemented by community service initiatives, extracurricular activities, and a full athletics program featuring varsity, intramural and club sports. The undergraduate course of study is designed to further intellectual, social, and spiritual growth and encourage students to work for a harmonious world, just and merciful. Graduate and continuing education programs are tailored to adult students' unique needs, combining the integration of knowledge and personal values with the development of greater competency in both theory and practice. Salve Regina's 80-acre campus is set on seven contiguous Gilded Age estates. It features 21 historic significance structures that have been sensitively adapted to meet University needs while also preserving their status as treasures of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Our comprehensive liberal arts education features a wide range of academic disciplines and ensures that graduates are well prepared to enter their chosen field of industry. While admission is competitive, students are selected without regard to age, race, gender, creed, national or ethnic origin, or disability. We offer 13 master's degree programs with options for concentrations, a doctoral program in humanities, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice, along with a bachelor's degree in nursing for licensed registered nurses. Our programs feature small classes led by faculty with real-world experience and the opportunity to take courses on campus in Newport, at our Center for Adult Education in Warwick, or online. Whether you are considering coming to the United States for a bachelor's degree or a master's degree, we have the programs, opportunities, and support you need to succeed as a student and in life. We classify an international student as a student who does not hold a U.S. citizenship or passport or U.S. permanent residency (U.S. resident alien) and needs an F-1 student visa. Each year, we welcome students worldwide, including first-year students, transfer, graduate, second degree, and exchange students. Our international students bring a unique perspective to campus, valued by students, faculty, and staff. Salve Regina is a vibrant learning community where intellectual curiosity and ethical responsibility converge. Professional and liberal arts-based programs offer limitless opportunities for academic challenge and growth. Small classes, dedicated faculty members, and rigorous courses cultivate the knowledge and critical thinking skills required for men and women to succeed. Learning begins in the classroom but knows no boundaries as students explore life on campus, the surrounding community, and the world through year-round educational partnerships, study abroad, and service opportunities. In an ever-changing world where standing still is not an option, Salve Regina continues to evolve to meet today's students' educational and spiritual needs and tomorrow's leaders. Our graduate and continuing education offerings include 13 master's degree programs with options for concentrations, a doctoral program in humanities, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice, along with a bachelor's degree in nursing for licensed registered nurses. Many programs also provide options for four-course graduate certificates. Our programs feature small classes led by faculty with real-world experience and the opportunity to take courses on campus in Newport, at the Center for Adult Education in Warwick, or online. At no other time in your life will you have so many ways to belong, get involved, and join others who share your interests than during college. Our size, setting, and welcoming community make it even easier. Try out for the tennis team, or find a workout partner. Host events for children with special needs. Join the College Democrats or College Republicans. Perform hip-hop or Irish step with the dance club. Go paintballing or sailing. DJ for Seahawk radio or a campus dance. Try everything. We can tell you it's all part of your education. It's also what makes each new day exciting. The Office of Student Activities offers a variety of involvement opportunities for students. Our programs and initiatives teach students to become stronger leaders, develop positive relationships, respect their peers and community and immerse themselves in their interests. Our goal is to enhance the educational experience by offering activities that challenge, enlighten, and entertain.
