  1. We believe that Quintilian provides an outstanding educational experience for all of our students. We are privileged to be entrusted with the most critical years of your child's education and development. All children are made welcome at our school, and we encourage them to question the world and develop their knowledge and understanding. Academic excellence and rigor are pursued, but equally, social skills, physical health, and the arts are of vital importance in preparing our children for secondary schooling and their place in society. We aim to maintain a teacher to student ratio of 1:20, which allows our teachers to know, understand, and cater to each child's needs. Quintilian students move into the local independent and public high schools with the confidence and skills to make the transition smoothly. Each year several of our students receive scholarship places. These schools regularly comment on the exceptional quality of Quintilian children. Quintilian School was established in 1975 by a committed group of parents and educators who saw the need for a small-scale, non-denominational community-orientated school. Named after the Roman educator Marcus Fabius Quintilianus, the school moved to its permanent home in Mount Claremont in 1992. He believed that the aim of education was meeting the individual needs of students. At Quintilian, the differences in children's learning styles are accepted and nurtured. Our teachers create a non-competitive learning environment where children are inspired to be their individual best. The Quintilian approach encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and holistic, integrated curricula. Our program enriches the day-to-day experiences of school by drawing on the resources of a wide range of community and cultural groups and the parent body. Regular excursions, class camps from Year 1, and 'out of the box' thinking foster resilience, confidence, and a fantastic sense of fun and camaraderie within the school community. The strong partnership between parents and staff is fundamental to the success of the school. The assistance and presence of parents in the classroom are embraced. At Quintilian, we instill: self-motivation, self-confidence, and self-discipline a respect, and tolerance for others and provide the educational standards and learning skills that will equip each child to take on the challenges of later schooling and life confidently.
