  1. Prescott College Southern provides a warm, caring environment where all children can relate positively to students, staff, and other adults. It recognizes each individual's uniqueness, and priority is given to helping every student develop academically, socially, spiritually, emotionally, and physically to the fullest extent possible. Prescott College Southern School will give students opportunities to: Participate in a differentiated curriculum Develop the academic ability to their maximum potential Mature in physical skills Make positive social adjustments Build lasting peer relationships Cultivate critical thinking and problem solving Grow in Christian values Create a sense of pride in themselves and their learning environment Learn in a balanced environment where their natural abilities will be challenged Prescott College Southern is proud of its size. We currently have an enrolment of approximately 570 students. The small school focus enables students to enjoy close personal contact with the teachers and fellow students. We average 25 students per class in the Primary and Middle School. This enables staff to give each child the attention required in the implementation of a differentiated curriculum. The Mission of Prescott College Southern is to promote a redemptive relationship between each student and Jesus Christ and to facilitate academic excellence and enjoyment in a caring disciplined learning environment. Prescott College Southern offers a program based on God's Christian philosophy of being the Earth's creator and savior. The fundamental premise upon which our educational philosophy is based on the belief that the gospel touches every aspect of life. The educational program in this school is designed so that the redemptive and restorative power of the gospel may become a reality in students' lives, pervading all aspects of their living. Prescott College Southern was first established as Noarlunga Districts Adventist Primary School in 1977. For many years it was a two-teacher school with enrolments primarily made up of Adventist children from the local area. In 1991 the school name was changed to Prescott Primary Southern. A focussed differentiated curriculum was developed, and children from the local community increased substantially, making up most of the school enrolments. In 2012, we welcomed the addition of the middle school students as we migrated towards becoming an R-12 school and changed our name to Prescott College Southern. Our current enrolment is approximately 570 students. View full school
  2. We have been told many times that "There is something special about Prescott College!" This sentiment echoes from graduating Year 12 students to parents experiencing the school for their first time on a campus tour. Whether it is the supportive learning environment, the positive student-teacher interaction, the value-based lifestyle, or merely the outstanding individuals we usher through our doors year after year, we believe that Prescott College does have something special… and we want to share that special something with you. Prescott College is an Adelaide-based co-educational private day school for students from Years 7-12. Enrolments are welcome from any student who wishes to study and learn within an environment shaped by Christian beliefs, values, and lifestyles. The school is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is a part of one of the world's largest Protestant education systems, second to the Catholic education system. As a smaller sized secondary school located in Prospect, South Australia, we provide a family atmosphere where students have close and supportive contact with their teachers and peers. Students are provided with personal education, offer academic challenges, and focus on individual student attention to become one of the best schools in South Australia. Academic excellence, Bible based worship, loving relationships, and practical concern for others will equip students to provide responsible and Christ-centred leadership in the community. We have a multicultural, multifaith student body and welcome international students. We welcome you to come and see the way our students benefit from a Prescott College education. Prescott College is a secondary school with first-rate academic results and excellent staff committed to growing students of character in a healthy and positive learning culture. Our motto, "Nihil Sine Deo" (Nothing Without God), places Christ firmly at the center of our school. Our core values of integrity, respect, and joy are lived out daily in the classrooms, halls, and the schoolyard by students and staff. At Prescott College, we learn, value, and serve, turning our values into actions. People who visit our College, or come into contact with us off-campus, frequently make unsolicited comments about the things they observe: smiling students and staff settled, engaged classes, and warm, genuine, and inclusive interactions. Prescott College recognizes God as the personal Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. He is the source of all life, knowledge, wisdom, and truth. The biblical truths of humanity's origin, nature, and destiny teach that each person is created with the power of choice. Therefore, students must be encouraged to choose Christ as their personal Saviour and develop a lasting relationship with God. The Mission of Prescott College is to instill and nurture Seventh-day Adventist Christian Values in our students through all aspects of College life. Academic excellence, Bible-based worship, care, and concern for others provide students with responsible and Christ-centred leadership in the community. View full school

  7. Prescott College began in the 1960s, a time of optimism and growth when leaders of a small town in the stunningly beautiful pine and chaparral country of central Arizona searched for a new cultural identity. Dr. Charles Franklin Parker, minister of Prescott's First Congregational Church and Prescott College founder, announced the ambitious project of creating the Harvard of the West – Prescott College. With the group of visionary leaders, Parker drew on the Congregationalist tradition of founding over 50 leading colleges and universities in America, beginning with Harvard in 1636, and including such institutions as Middlebury, Dartmouth, Amherst, Smith, Yale, Oberlin, Grinnell, Whitman, Colorado, Pomona, and Scripps. Many of the College's core philosophical and educational principles emerged in 1963, in a conference of state and nationally known leaders from higher education funded by the Ford Foundation's Fund for Post-Secondary Education, Business and Industry. These principles crystallized around a central goal: To produce the leaders increasingly crucial to successfully meeting the changing world's challenges. Dr. Parker's vision "for a pioneering, even radical experiment in higher education "and "to graduate society's leaders for the twenty-first century who would be needed to solve the world's growing environmental and social problems" seems especially prescient today, as humanity comes to terms with global warming and its potential for large-scale, adverse health, social, economic and ecological effects. Society looks to new education models to better prepare students of all ages for their role as global citizens. It is the mission of Prescott College to educate students of diverse ages and backgrounds to understand, thrive in, and enhance our world community and environment. We regard learning as a continuing process and strive to provide an education that will enable students to live productive lives while balancing self-fulfillment and service to others. Students are encouraged to think critically and act ethically with sensitivity to both the human community and the biosphere. Our philosophy stresses experiential learning and self-direction within an interdisciplinary curriculum. Over a half-century of leadership in developing and refining such new educational models has kept Prescott College at the forefront of schools seeking to address the urgent issues that face human societies right now. The themes students and faculty have identified over time as central to this effort include environmental awareness, social justice, peace studies, sustainable communities, sustainable agriculture, outdoor leadership, teacher preparation that includes multicultural education, and artistic and critical response to our world. The methods they have developed – collaborative learning, experiential education, and student-designed programs – assure students' impact in their future roles. The College's tradition of educating with ethics, vision, and sensitivity supports Prescott College students as they become the leaders the world needs now and in the decades to come. At Prescott College, education is personal. Forget a standard, one-size-fits-all degree. Here, you will have the opportunity to craft a degree plan that is as unique as you are. You will not be limited to a single area of study in building your plan either, so let your passions and interests guide you. Regardless of your area of study, all Prescott College programs have an experiential component - giving you valuable experience in your field. Whether you are kayaking in the Gulf of California or learning on the streets of Skid Row in LA, you will have plenty of opportunities to explore your world. At the end of your journey, you will not just have a degree; you will have a competence that will help you be successful in your next steps – whether that's in your career or graduate school. Career Services at Prescott College starts as soon as you begin to get to know your faculty, continue through your academic career, and as alumni. We strive to provide the information, contacts, and resources to our enrolled students and alumni so that each individual can direct their path. Guidance is available along the way through faculty, alumni, and others on campus. Students who come to Prescott College are vital, engaged people who want to make a difference. They take an active role in their college experience, rather than just letting it happen. Most share a love and respect for the outdoors and a deep concern about social justice and the jeopardized environment. They have inquiring intellects, uncompromising ideals, and soaring spirits. Over the decades, through active involvement, Prescott College students have impacted and shaped the College and helped make it what it is today. Opportunities for involvement abound—an extracurricular version of the College's experiential education model. Prescott College requires that all On-Campus Undergraduate students have health insurance coverage. Every student will be enrolled in the Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan available through Prescott College unless they waive out of the plan by providing proof of comparable insurance coverage by the waiver deadline.
