  1. Alexandra Parade is a member of Whitehill Learning Community, which is a family of local schools working closely together to ensure your child has quality, continuity, and progression with learning. Excellent nursery, primary and secondary links allow many successful pupil and staff activities to take place. There are many opportunities for parents to play an active role in school activities and we hope you will join us at as many events as you can. We always appreciate help and assistance from parents and more is always gladly accepted. Our school promotes an ethos of equal opportunities for all. We promote a policy of Positive Behaviour. We encourage our children to have a responsible attitude towards each other and towards our school building. Our Vision is to be a Parade of Excellence. To do this we need to promote a positive climate at Alexandra Parade Primary School where all our children are nurtured, achieving, active, healthy, included, equal, responsible, respected, and safe, so that they may become Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens, and Effective Contributors. We aim to equip pupils with the skills and strategies to become independent and successful learners. Our school aims: To provide a school environment that is purposeful, welcoming, nurturing, child-centered, and conducive to excellent teaching and learning through a curriculum showing breadth, depth, challenge, and application. To ensure that the needs of all our young people are supported and that each child is provided with personal choice and opportunities to set their challenging but achievable goals thus enabling them to fulfill their potential. To foster a sense of justice, self-awareness, and personal responsibility. To develop a compassionate and understanding attitude, which challenges discrimination of all kinds. To instill a sense of community, self-responsibility, and resilience in our young people. All pupils are familiar with the school vision and are confident at explaining how this translates into actions in day-to-day school life. The vision is embedded in practice and is explored regularly at assemblies Curriculum for Excellence aims to achieve a transformation in education in Scotland by providing a coherent, more flexible, and enriched curriculum from 3 to 18. The curriculum includes the totality of experiences that are planned for children and young people through their education, wherever they are being educated. It is underpinned by the values inscribed on the mace of the Scottish Parliament - wisdom, justice, compassion, and integrity. The purpose of Curriculum for Excellence is encapsulated in the four capacities – to enable each child or young person to be a successful learner, a confident individual, a responsible citizen, and an effective contributor.
