Today, University of the Ozarks continues to push boundaries, whether culturally (more than 15 percent of our students are from outside of the United States), inaccessibility (we have not raised the cost of tuition since 2012), in leadership (Ozarks Outdoors offers students the opportunity to obtain leadership skills and personal confidence while experiencing the picturesque nature of Northwest Arkansas), or athletically (more than 40 percent of our student body competes in intercollegiate athletics.) Throughout its long history, the Ozarks University has consistently provided creative, student-oriented innovation in higher education. We know that learning in the classroom happens differently for each individual, and our faculty understand that students learn in various ways. One classroom might be filled with discussion; another might take a field trip, while yet another might encourage you to explore a research topic with your student peers. The University of the Ozarks provides the opportunity for students to achieve these things by participating in our LENS program, a powerful combination of one primary and two minors, which has at its core the opportunity to develop vital orientations to view the world. The scientist only sees the world through one lens, as does the person in the humanities and the business person. But an Ozarks education asks you to see and know each of these. Our Residential Life program at Ozarks is vital to the development and success of our students. All Ozark's residence halls feature a full slate of both planned and impromptu activities, so there is nearly always something going on! We develop opportunities and experiences that build our community. Residence halls are dynamic facilities where students may interact, grow, mature, learn, and effectively pursue their academic, personal, and spiritual goals. At the University of the Ozarks, Career Services is your bridge. For students, it is the bridge between you and your first destination. We will coach you every step of the way through assessments, career exploration, networking, summer jobs, study abroad, internships, job search strategies, and interviewing preparation. The mission of the College of the Ozarks is to provide the advantages of Christian education for the youth of both sexes, especially those found worthy, but who are without sufficient means to procure such training. The vision of the College of the Ozarks is to develop citizens of Christ-like character who are well-educated, hard-working, and patriotic. To achieve this vision, the College has Academic, Vocational, Christian, Patriotic and Cultural goals. Even as the College of the Ozarks has evolved through secondary and junior college stages to the present four-year liberal arts institution, our no-tuition College's fundamental goals have remained the same. At College of the Ozarks, where we are looking for good students who have financial need. If you fit that bill, you might be the right candidate for admission! This unique institution's mission focuses on providing a Christian education to those found worthy but without sufficient means to obtain such training. College of the Ozarks is a Christian liberal arts college committed to a five-fold mission of encouraging academic, Christian, cultural, vocational, and patriotic growth in its students. The College'sCollege's academic program is intentionally Christ-centered and based on the biblical and historical confession that Jesus Christ is Lord. All the things one studies in College, from accounting to zoology, were created through him and for him and hold together in him. Courses at our accredited Christian College are taught from the perspective of a biblical worldview, which provides a broad and robust understanding of the world that a secular worldview cannot provide. The College faculty comprises men and women who are experts in their field and are deeply committed to Jesus Christ. These professors take the privilege of teaching seriously and mentoring students throughout their educational journeys at the College. The student's section provides resources for students in academics, work education, character education, and Christian ministries. We strive to preserve the best of the Christian Western tradition and the fundamental relationships that flow from that tradition: love of God, neighbor, country, family, and friends. Furthermore, these relationships are an essential aspect of cultural education and are reflected in art, music, theater, and even architecture. Cultural education is central to life at C of O. A broad array of speakers informs the campus body by sharing their passion and expertise on various topics in the convocation series. Students can participate in and attend musical performances, art exhibits, theater performances, and other cultural activities. The College also offers many domestic and international travel experiences for students who qualify. The Cultural Education Goal of the College is an essential aspect of student life and is threaded throughout students'students' course of study and experiences at College of the Ozarks. College of the Ozarks is a Christian college dedicated to helping our students grow in their faith. Our small Christian College offers students various opportunities, including ministry retreats, worship services, fellowship opportunities, mission trips, leadership development, and small group Bible study. At College of the Ozarks, we call ourselves "Hard Work U." That is because our work program sets us apart from nearly every other College in the country. Our work education program lets us provide an outstanding education that will help you achieve your life goals and objectives. At College of the Ozarks, you help pay for your education in a way that genuinely enriches your learning. As a full-time student, you work 15 hours each week at your assigned campus work station. The work education program will involve you in one of over 80 diverse and fulfilling work areas. You will find that your on-the-job experience gives you a significant competitive edge when you begin your career after College. Your participation in the work program might mean spending 15 hours a week working in the Computer Center, Child Development Center, Ralph Foster Museum, McDonald Clinic, or 80 other work areas on campus. Although your studies and college work program job take priority, many students at "Hard Work U" find they can also earn supplemental income through part-time employment with the many employers in nearby Hollister and Branson, Missouri. Your campus job helps pay for the cost of your education at the College of the Ozarks. Combined with scholarships and grants, your work scholarship will cover your education cost, making your College of the Ozarks education very affordable. The work education program means freedom from having to pay back large school loans after graduation. Best of all, the on-the-job experience you gain as a College of the Ozarks student will add an extra dimension to your learning. There are many benefits to a work college -- you will be starting your career debt-free, well educated, and work experienced. Unlike the federal "work-study" programs that most colleges offer, our work education program lets you contribute in a very significant way, both to your education and to the betterment of the C of O community. In addition to your regular weekly 15 hours during each semester, you will work two 40 hour weeks each year chosen from the weeks when classes are not in session. Although the scholarship program is need-based, your room and board may also be covered by working six weeks per term during your summer break. Combined with other scholarships and grants, your work scholarship can cover the entire cost of your education. College of the Ozarks is a fully accredited, Christian, liberal arts college located just outside Branson, Missouri. Founded in 1906 by Presbyterian minister Reverend James Forsythe as a high school called The School of the Ozarks, the institution became a junior college in 1956 before becoming a four-year bachelor'sbachelor's program in 1965. It has been called the College of the Ozarks since 1990. The institution provides the opportunity for full-time students to work at one of more than 100 campus jobs or industries to help pay for part of their education cost. The remaining portion of the students'students' expenses is covered through scholarships provided by gifts and contributions from donors who believe in and support the programs and policies of the College. These student work programs and donor contributions allow C of O to operate as a no-tuition college. In 2012, College of the Ozarks reopened the School of the Ozarks, a classical laboratory high school. The addition of the School of the Ozarks was followed soon after with the full implementation of a lower school in the fall of 2015, completing the K-college format. View full university
