  1. La Salle University is an autonomous university, the center of excellence in Southern Philippines, and accessible to all, especially the poor and youth-at-risk. Inflamed by God's fire, the Holy Spirit, we declare our commitment to the following mission: We shall create and live as evangelizing communities animated by faith and zeal, committed to establishing a just and humane Philippine society. We shall discover and initiate ways to benefit a human and Christian education more accessible to the underprivileged and marginalized sector at home and in our missions abroad. We shall continuously re-examine and renew our educational thrust to promote the Lasallian educational philosophy that integrates evangelization and human formation. Since its founding over eight decades ago and with the combined brilliance and dedication of the Jesuits, Recollects, Columban missionaries, and Christian Brothers, the University remains conscientious and at the forefront with its religious, historical role and rich heritage of scholarship in producing and educating excellent and service-oriented Youth of Misamis Occidental, neighboring cities and towns and across the bay. The University is rooted in the Catholic missionaries who established parishes in Northern Mindanao. After their mission in Iligan, Jesuit priests served the old town of Misamis, now Ozamiz City, as their mission area in the early part of the 18th century. In 1789, the Recollect Fathers under Fr. Julian de Nuestra Señora del 2 Mayor took over the Misamis mission and established the parish of Immaculate Conception. Fr. Constancio Arsenio, a parish priest, opened a parochial school in 1884. It was called Immaculate Conception School. Classes were the Cartilla, the Misterio, the Tresagia, and the Novena, roughly equivalent to grade six subjects today. La Salle University enjoys a reputation for academic excellence as a PAASCU Level III accredited institution. Programs under the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Education, and Commerce have enjoyed Level III accreditation since 2007 and have been re-surveyed and reaccredited in September 2013. Integrated School Basic Education programs are PAASCU Level II reaccredited until 2016. With the University's continued quest for excellence, other programs like Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science enjoyed its Level I PAASCU accreditation. Moreover, Nursing, Hospitality Management/Hotel and Restaurant Management, Information Technology, and Department of Criminal Justice Education are off for its formal PAASCU survey in 2016, April. With a rich 86-year history in four traditions – Jesuits, Recollects, Columbans, and De La Salle, La Salle University stands proud of the thousands of alumni and alumnae who have assumed leadership roles the church and community in Ozamiz City and many parts of the country and the world. La Salle University School for the Deaf envisions to be the catalyst for the social recognition and acceptance of all Deaf people as full and equal citizens, empowered to actualize their potentials by active participation in the economic, social, and cultural life of the community. It provides a quality Lasallian education to the less privileged Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students. Night High School envisions to become a center of human and Christian education for the out-of-school youths in Ozamiz City and nearby provinces. It seeks to promote justice and to uphold the dignity of less privileged members of society. Through its volunteer teachers, Night High School commits to provide quality high school education to household helpers, youths at risk, and economically disadvantaged or less privileged children and develop an appreciation of Filipino and Christian values. La Salle University: Integrated School is a PAASCU-Accredited Catholic essential education institution dedicated to students' development through values and skills formation, social awareness, and academic excellence. A set of competent, updated, and qualified faculty helps produce students who meet primary education demands. The faculty members are emotionally stable, good in communication, organized, and well-rounded. Through a tradition of values integration and student-centered learning, Lasallians aims to be socially motivated and globally competitive and represent a generation of Youth dedicated to excellence and service. It commits to provide relevant programs at the masters and doctoral levels to train and equip its graduates with competencies, attitudes, and values for excellent teaching, school leadership, entrepreneurship, and public service. La Salle University-Ozamiz is a recognized catholic university established by the Brothers of the Christians School. Inspired by the charism of St. John Baptist De La Salle, the university community together and by association, provides quality, human and Christian education by teaching minds, touching hearts, and transforming lives. The Institutional Research Office aims to make all faculty do worthwhile research and publications. It envisions yielding world-class researchers whose products are featured in globally renowned academic journals. The Research Office of La Salle University helps the faculty embrace research as one of their vital functions. It hopes to train competent researchers in their field of specialization and produce quality research for publication, particularly in The Lasallian Research Forum. Further, it aspires to aid instruction and help improve the quality of life in the community.
