Starting from day one, students are matched with an academic advisor personal to the study program that will stay with them through graduation and beyond. Students typically meet with their advisors during the seminar, a weekly class on Wednesdays, and other students pursuing similar degrees. Advisors are available to assist with academic planning, career preparation, creating a portfolio, and other students' needs. Did you know there are numerous types of financial aid available to help students pay for college? Olivet offers various financial aid opportunities, awarded based on considerations such as student need and academic merit. Olivet College is pleased to provide financial support in the form of Talent Scholarships to students who will enrich the campus community through their active involvement in and contributions to specific talent-based participation opportunities on campus. The actual amount of a Talent Scholarship can vary depending on the student's experience and achievement, as well as the activity. Specific Talent Scholarships may award up to full tuition, fees, room, and board. While you may apply for multiple Talent scholarships, you will be awarded no more than one. Students may be eligible for other scholarships or financial aid. The school strives to help students obtain other funding to make it more affordable for promising candidates to attend Olivet College. To be considered for a Talent Scholarship, students must agree to the specific talent-based opportunity's expectations and limitations. Olivet College offers opportunities to get involved with – or lead – organizations from the moment you arrive on campus. At the annual Clubs and Organizations Fair, you will be able to explore what Olivet has to offer and speak with current students about how their involvement on campus has impacted their educational journey. Olivet Christian College was established in 1979 as an Ecumenical co-educational Christian school for Years F - 10 students. Year 10 registration is provisionally reinstated due to there being less than 40 Secondary students in total. Situated in Central Victoria (near Castlemaine), three College-owned buses run daily from Bendigo (Kangaroo Flat and Strathfieldsaye) and Maryborough via Carisbrook and Newstead. Olivet has a caring family atmosphere and a strong emphasis on developing character. All staff is committed Christians with a passion as teachers to see their students achieve success in demonstrating academic excellence and consistent moral character. Highlights include a strong work ethic among students, a Buddy program, a great range of extra-curricular activities, and healthy staff-student relations. Christian Education is seen as a partnership with parents to encourage, equip, and empower students for life. The basis of each child's character, and the attitudes and values they encompass, are laid early in life. THE TEACHERS endeavor to support parents by teaching them about God and encouraging them to develop a relationship with Him and value their fellow men and themselves. Essentially we do this by setting an example for them to follow in the ways we relate to each other and live our daily lives. THE CHURCH equips individuals for ministry by bringing them to maturity within the Body. Church attendance is not compulsory but is encouraged, particularly Bible School and Youth Groups for students. In the spirit of Romans 13, this school community acknowledges with thankfulness to God that the school can prosper under the principles and practices of a democratic nation and the policy frameworks of both its Federal and State Governments. We acknowledge with gratitude, yet without taking it for granted, that we, together with all Australian citizens, have the freedom to pursue our religious beliefs and live out of a religious worldview founded upon those beliefs. We honor and commit to the fundamental freedoms of speech and association for all Australians so long as those freedoms are not used to subvert the rule of law. We accept our elected Governments and their officers' right to prescribe certain conditions about the programs and teaching practices of schools. As far as it lies within our capacity to do so, we will endeavor to treat our community members with equity and fairness.
