Welcome to Northumberland College. At Northumberland Collge, you will be treated as an individual and given opportunities to study subjects you may not have tried before, as well as opportunities to grow and develop so that you are prepared for your next steps, whether this is university or starting in the first stage of your career. Northumberland College has two main campuses at Ashington and Kirkley Hall and centers at Hexham and Berwick. We offer hundreds of full-time and part-time courses, work with students aged 14-18, mature students, higher education students, and employers from numerous industry sectors. Our Ashington campus was opened in 1957 and is home to a wide range of subjects - all housed in specialist facilities, including art and design, construction, engineering, sport, hospitality, and beauty therapy. Our Kirkley Hall campus in Ponteland has a long-established history as the leading provider of land-based education and training in the region, stretching back more than 50 years. So if you want to study animal care, agriculture or horticulture, this campus will provide the perfect environment for you. Life at Northumberland College is about more than just studying. It is about meeting new people, enjoying new experiences, developing new skills, and spending time with friends. We believe in giving you a learning experience that is as close to real-life as possible in order for you to be adequately prepared for your future. We aim to support you in the best way possible to ensure you succeed. As a student at the college, you will be able to undertake your Passport to Employment - a creative journey encompassing all sorts of ways in which we will help you develop all the skills that employers expect, prepare you for work, and increase your chances of gaining a positive outcome such as gaining a job, progressing to Higher Education or starting your own business for example. All the development of a wide breadth of skills and your primary area of study will be recorded and available as a passport to take away with you. We have around 6,000 students and work with over 700 employers across the North East, including small businesses and larger enterprises. We offer a wide range of courses from full and part-time Vocational courses, Apprenticeships, Higher Education courses, and Professionally Accredited courses. We also externally test where all our students go after graduating, and I am delighted to report that 91% of our students go onto that positive outcome mentioned earlier. All of our students have the opportunity to graduate at beautiful ceremonies at the end of the academic year. New facilities include a luxury hair and beauty salon, 40-seat modern restaurant, state-of-the-art motor vehicle, engineering and construction workshops at Ashington, and brand-new teaching block, arboriculture workshops, and tractor workshops at Kirkley Hall. We are building a new STEM Centre and Equine Centre ready in 2017 and continue to improve student facilities right across the college. Therefore, we offer our students and partners industry-standard facilities and resources and a broad curriculum with progression opportunities increasing to a full degree at L6 working with our University partners such as Newcastle, Cumbria, and Huddersfield.
