  1. Nijinsky State University is one of the oldest among the continuously working universities of Ukraine. There are many good reasons to engage with Nizhyn University, from academic to social and personal opportunities. The elected student representatives – together with the dedicated teams of the Students' Council, Students' Trade Union and Students' Scientific Society staff – are there to work directly for every under-/postgraduate. The University Students' Council, which unites every Faculty's councils, is the student platform that aims to encourage student participation and representation whilst striving to improve the University's overall student experience. It is run for students and by students. It organizes regular activities like Freshers' Welcoming Concert, special events, regular all-Ukrainian comedy competition "Gogol Cup" and choreographic festival "April Flourishes", poetic nights, singing and music concerts. Nizhyn University is also a home for the famous youth choir "Switch", the repeat winner of many national and European contests. Academician M.O. Lavrovskiy Library is the main Library of Nizhyn Gogol State University. One of the oldest University's libraries was founded in 1820, and knyaz Bezborodko's private collection (c. 2500 volumes) served as a basis of the Library holding. Later on, the Library received valuable collections of books from Ukraine, Russian, Germany, Poland, etc. The Library owes its name to academician M.O. Lavrovskiy, who was its honoured administrator and paid particular attention to the improvement of the Library. It offers you a comfortable space for group and individual study. The Library contains 985,320 volumes and works for over 4,000 readers. The books and journals that appear on students' reading lists are available for reference or overnight loan. Most of the volumes in our collections are easily accessible through our online catalogue. Every Faculty is equipped with up-to-date multimedia classes and computer labs. The computer labs are perfect places to get access to various web and standalone e-resources, which can complement your studies and allow you to manage coursework at your pace and in your own time. Our students enjoy free, fast, internet access in all academic buildings across the campus. Our Language Centre is open to all students. It offers various courses for both students and staff and all the language learning advice and support they may need. Whether you are studying for a degree in Germanic or Slavic languages, preparing for a trip abroad, have come to Ukraine for the first time or are fascinated by other cultures and languages, the Language Centre is available for you throughout the year. The Center for the humanitarian cooperation was implemented by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ukraine's Ministers on September 22, 1999. The Center's activities aim to improve the work of the Ukrainian diaspora and provide it with practical assistance in the humanitarian sphere. This involves ensuring the scientific and educational needs of the Ukrainians living abroad and spiritual and cultural exchange and tourist-linguistic work. During the functioning of the Center, friendly relations were established with the Ukrainian communities of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Moldova, Bashkortostan, Russia, in particular with the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Moscow, the Ukrainians of St. Petersburg and Ukrainian communities inhabiting Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia. The Center has printed publications which are being distributed both in Ukraine and among the Ukrainian diaspora. At the Centre's initiative, international and All-Ukrainian conferences related to diaspora issues, cultural and artistic events, festivals, and contests are held. Nizhyn Gogol State University (NGSU) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Nizhyn. Officially accredited by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Nizhyn Gogol State University is a medium-sized coeducational higher education institution. The University offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees and master degrees in several study areas. It is known outside the country for its educational, scientific and cultural traditions. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. GNU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sports facilities and activities, financial aids and scholarships, online courses and distance learning opportunities, and administrative services. The University keeps up with the times, using the examples of teaching methods of foreign universities. GNU cooperates with many universities in different countries, such as The UK, The USA, Poland, Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic, Georgia, etc. University graduates make a significant contribution to the economic and social development of the country. Gogol Research Centre of Nizhyn Gogol State University unites researchers of Gogol work from all over the world. The Centre gives a lot of scientific seminars. It publishes a journal "Gogol Research Studios" which includes the results of further research: Gogol works of his last years of life, bibliographic data about Gogol, Gogol and Christianity, Ukrainian novelettes of Gogol, etc. The Centre's history dates back to 1854 when the Gymnasium of Higher Sciences teacher's recollections about Gogol were published in the magazine "Moskvytianyn". The Gogol Research Centre had its ups (the beginning of the XX century) and downs (20-ies, 60–ies). Still, there were all necessary conditions for the development of the Centre: an extensive archive database, original manuscripts of some Gogol's works and the materialistic culture of Nizhyn that had an impact on Gogol's artistic world formation. Nizhyn Gogol Research Centre's modern history dates back to 1979 when at Nizhyn Pedagogical Institute All-Union Scientific Conference "Gogol and modernity" was held. More than 150 scientists from different republics of the former USSR took part in that event. That year was the beginning of active Gogol's theme research. Many materials were published: scientific works about Gogol, materials of seminars, aids for teachers.
