- Founded in 1229, the University of Toulouse-Mirail has a long-standing tradition of humanities studies. UTM offers degrees in a wide variety of disciplines, from the undergraduate level to the doctorate. Our main campus is located in Toulouse, in the Mirail quarter, 15 minutes from the city center by metro. The University also has several smaller campuses in nine cities of the Midi-Pyrenees region and other campuses around the world. The involvement and commitment of our student body, faculty, and staff, along with our high standard of education, have established the University of Toulouse II – Le Mirail as one of France's best universities and a leading academic institution in research and education. "University Toulouse II or the University of Toulouse II (known by the name of University de Toulouse-Jean Jaurès since 2014 and formerly University de Toulouse-Le Mirail, UTM) is one of 3 universities in Toulouse, France. The campus, situated in Toulouse's grand architectural project of the 1960s, Le Mirail, was conceived and built by the architects Candilis, Josic, and Woods. Mirail University was hastily conceived due to the saturation of the original buildings in the city center and the events of May 1968. At that time, it was decided to divide the University of Toulouse into three: The law faculty became University Toulouse I, occupying all the old university buildings, the humanities faculty became University de Toulouse II – Le Mirail, named after its new location, and the departments of science and medicine became University Paul Sabatier (Toulouse III). In 1969, the fourth University in Toulouse was created, Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse, an engineering school."
