      1. The "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest is the oldest and most important academic institution in this field in Romania. It continues a long tradition of local architectural higher education, the foundation of which is closely linked with the rise of modern Romania and its new institutional structure and culture during the second half of the 19th century. The Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism in Bucharest offers several Bachelor's, Master's level, and Doctorate programs, leading to different specializations in Architecture and Urbanism. The three Faculties of the University coordinate the Bachelor's and Master's programs: the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Interior Architecture, and the Faculty of Urban Planning. The Doctoral Schools manage the Doctorate courses with core subjects in Architecture and Urbanism. According to the national Law of Education and relevant European regulations, the courses dedicated to architects' education and training are five or six years full-time programs, leading to the Master's level of qualification (level 7 EQF). Since September 2008, the Diploma of Architect awarded by the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism after the successful completion of the six years of full-time studies in Architecture is recognized for free movement and professional practice in the member states of EU, in the base of the Directive 2005/36/EC (2013/55/EC) of the European Parliament and the Council, on the recognition of professional qualifications. As a conclusion of the periodical evaluations started in 1998, RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) has consistently validated the Diploma of Architect awarded by the Faculty of Architecture of the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, allowing the graduates to be exempted from the RIBA examinations Part One and Part Two given the registration in ARB (Architects Registration Board) for the professional practice in the UK. Permanently concerned with according its teaching offer to the new approaches and best practice in architectural education, after 1990, UAUIM has continuously been promoting international cooperation through close relations with various schools of architecture, associations, forums, and top level professionals worldwide. UAUIM has relations with more than 80 schools of architecture in Europe, Asia, South America, and the United States. The Tempus program and subsequently the Erasmus program have facilitated students' and teachers' exchanges between the UAUIM and more than 50 schools of architecture in Europe. Each year a large number of UAUIM students benefit from international mobilities for study and practical training in design offices in many countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, North, and South America. UAUIM has a very active role in the European Association of Architectural Education (EAAE) and the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE). UAUIM also participates in the Convention of Schools of Architecture and Urbanism of Southern France and Eastern Europe. Distinguished guests from around the world visit UAUIM as teachers or guest jurors regularly. Every year the diploma projects are assessed by international juries, including professionals and professors from different countries and continents. UAUIM diploma of the architect was recognized by the French Ministry of Culture and Communications since the middle of the '90s.
