We are a private, liberal arts-based institution with career-focused majors. We offer traditional semester undergraduate programs as well as accelerated format evening and online undergraduate and graduate programs. Our students are from all across the United States and many international countries. Our story is a unique one born out of an idea to educate orphaned women. Our beautiful campus is located on 200 acres in Midway, Kentucky, in Woodford County and is a working horse farm. Just fifteen minutes from Lexington, our campus is in the center of Kentucky's internationally renowned horse country and Is surrounded by some of the world's top Thoroughbred farms. Midway, Kentucky, is a quaint, historic town founded by a railroad company in the 1830s. The trains still run through town and our campus daily. Downtown Midway is known as a regional dining destination and its unique boutiques that draw visitors daily. Midway University hosts campus events each semester for our students, and many are open to the Midway community. Each summer Midway University and Renaissance Midway, a nonprofit community organization, hosts Francisco's Farm Arts Festival, a juried arts festival. Annually more than 5,000 visitors come to campus over the two-day festival. Midway University shapes and inspires women and men's lives in undergraduate and graduate programs through a student-centered, global education that leads to rewarding careers and responsible citizenship. Midway University will become a regional, vibrant institution committed to academic quality and individual achievement. At Midway, students are always the top priority for us. We have a unique student body made up of students from 17 to 70+, each of whom comes from a unique background. Our student population draws students from all across the United States and more than 20 countries. We make a great effort to enhance all students' experience while at Midway by presenting unique speakers, arts programming, and multicultural programs on campus. From hosting hundreds of co-curricular events, on-campus athletic competition, study abroad and volunteering opportunities, academic support services such as peer tutoring and career planning services, student life covers all activities outside the classroom. Sometimes the best learning experiences are outside the classroom and worlds away. Midway University offers three distinct programs to enhance our students' education experience: Study Aboard, Service Learning Abroad, and Faculty-Led Programs. Study Abroad opportunities at Midway University are limitless. Students can select from various countries and program types through many different studies abroad providers, like IPSL and ISA. Study Abroad Fairs are held on campus twice a year, at which students can interact with these organizations and gain in-depth information. Midway University, located in Midway, Kentucky, is a private, nonprofit liberal arts college, founded in 1847 by Dr. Lewis L. Pinkerton, the first school in the United States to serve orphaned and disadvantaged women. The school evolved and became Pinkerton High School, Midway Junior College, Midway College, and on July 1, 2015, Midway University. Today, Midway University is a leader in providing educational opportunities for men and women who wish to continue their education. Our goal is to ignite and activate students' self-discovery as they work to achieve academic success and embark on their journey to career readiness or graduate school preparation. In addition to academic support, the Midway University Student Development Center also provides Career Services. Resources are available to students, alumni, and others within our community to help them gain relevant and practical career readiness training through education and experiential learning within internships, job shadowing, career counseling, and strategic corporate partnerships. Students at Midway have an opportunity to experience a unique college experience. Living on campus or even commuting, our students have access to small classes and excellent academics, but they also gain a network of friends and a real sense of community.
