  1. In 1994, five founding families, at the initiative of Laurel and George Tahija, set out to establish a model Indonesian school. By December 1995, the five families had set up a non-denominational, not-for-profit vehicle now called “Perkumpulan Mandiri” or the Mandiri Association to establish, finance, and manage educational endeavors. One of Perkumpulan Mandiri’s major commitments has been to the Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri (SPM) School that began with a Kindergarten and Grade 1 in July 1996/1997 with a total student body of 25. Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri (SPM) School has grown to offer classes from Kindergarten, Elementary to Junior and Senior High school grades. A unique characteristic of Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri (SPM) is its Student-Centered and Inquiry-Based approach and a balance between character development and academic achievement through The Leader in Me program. One of the famous quotes from the great Greek philosopher and scientist, Aristotle is: "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all".In education, there are 3 domains to be developed, cognitive, psychomotor, and affective or in more friendly terms, knowledge, skills, and attitude. They are the focus of why schools exist and why students come to school. At school students learn things, based on the curriculum decided to be used by the school, they are assessed and scored for every subject they learned. Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri’s vision is to be a principle-centered school that develops academic excellence and lifelong learning skills in an engaged community. Sekolah Perkumpulan Mandiri educators, using effective teaching and learning strategies that blend the National and Cambridge International curricula, maximize opportunities for students to actualize their potential and become lifelong learners in a safe and inspiring environment. We value integrity and hold ourselves accountable for the quality of our teaching and learning programs and all aspects of the operations that support our commitments. We value self-respect and respect for others to build strong relationships that foster a compassionate community. We engage in lifelong learning to give individuals the capacity for continuous improvement.
  2. University of indo global Mandiri (sign) was established based on the decree of the minister of national education of the Republic of Indonesia number 83/d/o/2008 on May 22, 2008, the result of the merger between IgM high school of informatics & computer management (stock) and IgM high school of technology Palembang (step). In the very first place, UIGM consists of 3 Faculties. Namely, the Faculty of Computer Science consists of Informatics Engineering (S1), Information Systems (S1), Computer Engineering (D3), Informatic Management (D3), Computerized Accounting (D3). Currently, the Computer Engineering Study Program is upgraded from D3 to S1 Computer System, while for Computerized Accounting is not continued, adjusting to market needs. Faculty of Engineering consists of Civil Engineering Study Program (S1), Architecture Engineering (S1), Urban and Regional Planning (S1), Survey and Mapping (D3). Faculty of Economics consists of Management (S1) and Accounting (S1) study program. As time goes by, to meet market demand, IGM gradually develops several Study Programs which are incorporated into 2 Faculties, namely the Faculty of Governmental and Cultural Sciences, which consists of Government Science and Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program. Faculty of Teacher Training Education consisting of English Education and Mathematics Study Program. Currently, the Mathematics Study Program has not been implemented due to the limited interest of the public. Thus at this time, IGM University has 5 Faculties with 14 Study Programs. The study program will continue to be evaluated, opened, or closed adjusted to market needs. The education targets to be achieved at each the Study Program, namely S2 program aims to produce a Bachelor. They can develop various hypotheses from various problems encountered and prove them in conjunction with the profession of science to be used to cope with the same problem in the future. S1 program aims to produce a Bachelor who can analyze a problem, develop alternative solutions, and implement it according to science-owned. D3 program aims to produce Ahli Madya (AMD) professional who has the technical ability and insight to implement their science-owned expertise. The time required during the study taking in UIGM, namely Graduate Program (S2), is taken within 4-6 semesters. Undergraduate Program (S1) is taken within 8-10 semesters. Diploma Program (D3) is taken within 6-8 semesters. The long journey that has been gone through since 1999, which started with Sekolah Tinggi, has formed IGM into an authoritarian Institution facing difficulties with increasingly tough competition. The growing number of successful alumni in their career and the business world further strengthens the existence of IGM in education. Stepping into the academic year 2016/2017, UIGM, which is only eight years since it was developed into a university, continues to make improvements to welcome the coming of the ASEAN Economic Community 2016. The improvement is necessary for life to anticipate change, primarily intended to produce superior and professional human resources ready to compete in an era of openness in both the economic, socio-cultural, political, and security sectors. Some strategic steps are taken in the short term, namely increasing the Number of Educators with Master/Magister and Doctoral qualifications for the entire study program. Reviewing all curriculum adapted to the Study Program, Faculty, and University's vision and mission, meeting the competencies that must be possessed when students complete their studies. Adding lecture facilities in the form of a new building with ten floors for the Faculty of Economics and Laboratory and five floors building for Master Program Management and all equipment. Implementing ISO 9001-2008 Quality Management System consistently and continuously. Establishing Alumni Competency for each study program to master English with a TOEFL score will be increased gradually to reach 500 at the minimum score. The increasingly tough competition between Domestic Colleges and foreign universities' entry is a challenge for the IGM University to continue racing ahead and best in South Sumatra Region and getting into the top 100 best universities in Indonesia in the next five years from 4000 more State and Private universities. In the next two decades, IGM University is targeted to be among the top 500 Universities in the World. The vision is to become a university that produces professionalism and integrity in human resources to fill and create job opportunities. The mission is The Availability of up to date facilities and educational infrastructure to support the teaching and learning process. The Availability of educators who have the qualifications and competencies required and have the knowledge and experience in implementing Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi. The Establishment of Cooperation with Stakeholders (stakeholders) can provide additional in developing the learning process. The making of the entrepreneurship curriculum to enhance students' creativity and soul of entrepreneurship. The building of strong character and integrity.
