Maejo University (MJU) is one of the 28 state universities under the Commission on Higher Education of the Ministry of Education. It is located in Chiang Mai, considered the capital of the northern region of Thailand. Part of MJU's prestigious past was its establishment in 1934 based on a significant HM The King, thus becoming one of the oldest degree-granting agricultural institutions in the country. Since then, it has rapidly progressed from being a teachers' training school to becoming one of the most prominent state universities in Thailand. Today, as MJU continues to carve a niche in its educational system, it is prepared to face many challenges caused by many changes in the global world. Rooted in our culture and traditions, our graduates genuinely reflect the quality of education Maejo University continues to offer. They occupy essential positions in various organizations, especially those that relate to and are based on agriculture. Many of them have become leaders of communities, spearheading rural and agricultural development that lead to nation-building. As it strives to fulfill this mission, Maejo University also enthusiastically hopes to strengthen its international relations by promoting academic internationalization without sacrificing its distinct character. Maejo was royally confirmed as a state university under the Ministry of University Affairs but was called the Institute of Agricultural Technology. However, with this status, it began to accept students from vocational schools to its 2-year programs (associate degree) and students from secondary schools to its 4-year degree programs. This was to give all vocational school graduates more fantastic opportunity to attain higher education in agriculture. The 19th of February is thus celebrated as MJU's Foundation Day. Under the Ministry of Education, Maejo University is a degree-granting institute that educates students in practical agriculture to prepare them for agricultural pursuits. MJU strives to nurture and develop its graduates to become technically competent, scholarly, and culturally mature, thereby enabling them to contribute to the country's future. Our philosophy is to focus on developing graduates who possess wisdom, persistence, perseverance, and moral integrity for the prosperity of Thai people in an agriculture-based society.
