  1. The entire Brown Mackie College system of schools continues to help students change their lives through education. With over 25 locations nationwide and a variety of relevant career-focused areas of study, we are here to help you get the education you need to start the career you want. Brown Mackie College — Akron provides traditional and non-traditional students with convenient, focused, and flexible post-secondary education options through bachelor's degrees, associate's degrees, diploma, and certificate programs, which enhance their career opportunities and expand their perspectives. The College believes that education should be specific enough to provide a meaningful career, yet broad enough to lay the foundation for lifelong learning. Through its educational programs, Brown Mackie College — Akron provides graduates with career-focused skills and abilities necessary to succeed at entry-level employment positions that contribute to the economic growth of both employers and the community served. Community Foundations play an essential role in the sustainability and advancement of the communities in which they serve. Funded by private donors, these organizations provide several programs that financially support nonprofits. Individuals based on eligibility criteria agreed upon by the donor's educational scholarships are included in those programs. If you decide to meet with a student financial services officer at the Brown Mackie College school of your choice to start the student financial services process, or if you would like to complete part of this process online, we can help. However, before you apply for financial aid, you must meet with a student financial services officer at the Brown Mackie College school you want to attend. Application for financial aid is a yearly process. You can refer to these student financial services pages to help make sure you stay on track with your financial aid needs throughout your education program. At the Brown Mackie College system of schools, we teach courses in a way that is far different from what you may have been used to in high school. Keep the educational momentum going and find out how our One Course a Month® schedule could help you find the academic success you are looking for. Support can mean many things, but at the Brown Mackie College system of schools, it is more like a promise. Support is a hard thing to describe because it is something you can only experience for yourself, and only when you need it does it make a difference. Our student services are the support system we have developed over the years as part of our continued commitment to helping every student find academic success. The Career Services staff at Brown Mackie College helps you take that next step and transition you from the classroom to the workplace. Our experience and contacts in the community will help guide you in your search for a career in your field. To help you prepare you for the next step, the Career Services staff will provide instruction on job search skills, resume writing, interviewing, networking, and our dedicated staff can also help you find a part-time job while still finishing school. However, there is more to the process than just finding a job. The Career Services staff will also help you deal with practical needs like childcare, transportation, and wardrobe development, helping you prepare to take that next step. Brown Mackie College cannot guarantee graduates' employment, but the Career Services staff will work hard to help you find employment leads, prepare you to put your best foot forward, and then help you get job interviews. It is up to you to take the initiative and follow through with the employment process, but we will support you every step of the way. The Brown Mackie College system of schools has a long history that began with the Kansas Wesleyan School of Business opening on September 12, 1892. In 1938, the school was incorporated as The Brown Mackie School of Business under the ownership of former Kansas Wesleyan School of Business instructors Mr. Perry E. Brown and Mr. A.B. Mackie. In the following years, this school and others that were to become part of the Brown Mackie College system of schools were operated by numerous organizations and eventually were united under the parent company of American Education Centers (AEC), founded in 1993 and headquartered in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. In 2003, AEC was acquired by Education Management Corporation, operating out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The system of schools was renamed Brown Mackie College the following year. It included schools formerly known as Southern Ohio College in Ohio and Kentucky, Asher School of Business in Georgia, Commonwealth Business College in Indiana, and Illinois, Michiana College in Indiana, RETS Institute of Technology in Kentucky AEC Texas Institute. Since 1892 the Brown Mackie College system of schools has grown and now has more than 25 schools in 15 states all across the United States.
