      1. Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) was established as an autonomous public university, under the Royal Charter, in 1998, with generous support from the Royal Thai Government. The University was established to meet the needs of people in the north of Thailand. MFU has become Thailand's fastest-growing post-secondary institution with an enrollment of just under 15,000 students. After a little over a decade of operation, MFU is already well known for its high-quality teaching, research, and service to the people of the north and Thailand. As both a regional and national university, MFU provides high-quality education services and resources for the Greater Mekhong Sub-region (GMS) neighboring countries and reaches out to all of Southeast Asia. For eighteen years, Mae Fah Luang University has been devoted to becoming a world-class educational institution through collaborations and academic excellence, providing international standard education for the Greater Mekong Subregion while strengthening and building networks with partner universities around the world. MFU is vastly expanding, gaining recognition through international accreditation. MFU offers 14 schools with innovation as a core concept of learning and research, encouraging exploration of new applications and practices. Our lecturers have gained global recognition for their research projects, further helping MFU achieve our "new, different, and better" goals. As MFU thrives, we continue to receive increasing numbers of student applications each semester, leading to a highly diverse international student body comprised of 28 nations, including all 10 ASEAN nations. MFU also offers great diversity in our academic staff body, with 54 foreign lecturers and numerous visiting scholars from international partner universities. Opportunities for mobility are offered to the entire MFU community through our many exchange programs, allowing students, staff, and researchers to attain direct experience from global perspectives. With great pride, we see our students fostering multicultural skills and distributing global vision among their peers. The 21st century calls for unique abilities, with requirements for up-to-date technology, media, information literacy, and productive social skills. At MFU, our students can practice these skills in a diverse, multicultural setting, allowing for a broader range of applications and experiences. In addition to academic development, MFU also focuses on social development by serving the community through welfare services, modern medicine and alternative medicine services, and vocational and training services. MFU has been undergoing various new constructions to facilitate practical training. The MFU Human Resources Development Centre and the Learning Development Centre will soon be completed. They will provide on-campus simulations of various aviation and hospitality industry-related settings for realistic, practical learning applications. The MFU Medical Hub is currently in construction and will be completed in 2018, allowing MFU to serve as the heart of health and medicine for the GMS. Our international standards and unique approach to academics and education lead us to pursue excellence in sciences and arts, cultivating human resources for Thailand and the Greater Mekong Subregion. MFU will be a university of quality with international academic standards, pursuing excellence in sciences and arts, cultivating human resources for Thailand and the Greater Mekong sub-region. The University will develop and utilize knowledge to better the community and society while conserving natural resources and the environment.
