- Founded in 2008 as part of a merger between Dewsbury College and Huddersfield Technical College, Kirklees College has become one of the most prominent colleges in the country, offering a wide range of courses and studies options. The college boasts over 18,000 students across the full-time study, apprenticeships, and part-time courses, offering students of any age and background one of the best opportunities to achieve their education goals. The college is entrenched in the heart of West Yorkshire. It boasts nine bespoke centers across the Kirklees region, from two primary centers in Dewsbury and Huddersfield to specific learning centers in art, animal care, construction, engineering, media, and performing arts as well as a brand new center for process manufacturing. Kirklees College is also committed to serving the local communities and businesses throughout the Kirklees region, working with over 1000 employers around West Yorkshire. The college corporation is responsible for the overall functioning of Kirklees College. The Corporation oversees the college’s strategic direction, financial performance, and service quality provided to learners and the community. The Corporation Board is made up of highly experienced individuals with extensive experience in management across the industry, business, law, finance, and the community, as well as students and staff. The Corporation meets at least twice each term to discuss the college’s strategy and its progress on crucial performance matters. The Corporation also has several government committees that look at the college’s performance on finance and quality matters in more detail. Governors also play an active role in college life through support and advice, attending events, and promoting the excellent work the college does in the community. Here at Kirklees College, we actively encourage our students to participate in a range of activities that we run through our Students’ Union and enrichment activities. Kirklees College has a dedicated business team that works with employers and businesses across the region to help access a wide range of training, development, and services. The college works with hundreds of local businesses across West Yorkshire, and our dedicated team has the knowledge to help your business get the right training for your staff. The college can offer advice on funding for training, provide facilities for events, and develop tailor-made courses to suit your need.
