  1. Holy Innocents' is one of the nation's largest Episcopal schools, enrolling 1,360 students in grades PK3-12. Here, in a uniquely vibrant learning community filled with encouragement and every potential opportunity, students can explore their talents, pursue their passions, and achieve their full potential. At HIES, you won't be just a scholar or athlete or artist – you can be all of these and more. Come to HIES. Explore your interests. Engage your talents. Discover the best in you. Holy Innocents' Episcopal School offers an educational program encompassing academics, arts, athletics, and spiritual formation. Through opportunities to grow intellectually, spiritually, physically, and emotionally, students develop their worth and dignity. The challenging academic program prepares students for higher education and emphasizes learning as a pathway toward ethical leadership and a commitment to the common good. The school provides a welcoming and supportive environment, embraces the differences inherent in a diverse community, and embodies the inclusive Episcopal tradition of respect for others' beliefs. Holy Innocents' is an active community of faith engaged in local, national, and international service to others. We pride ourselves on being a deeply caring, diverse, and inclusive community where all are truly welcome. As the proud parent of three Holy Innocents' students, We know firsthand the benefits and blessings of having your child in a school that recognizes and celebrates each person's inherent worth and dignity. Holy Innocents' education is about much more than academics. Thanks to our school's plentiful opportunities and an encouraging, supportive faculty, students of all ages learn to take chances and seek out new challenges. They join various clubs, athletic teams, performing arts groups, service organizations, and more to learn about themselves, explore their talents, and discover new interests and passions. So Holy Innocents' students are not scholars or athletes or artists or servant-leaders; instead, they are all of these things and more. In an age of ever-increasing specialization, we seek to develop Renaissance students equipped to meet the complex, interconnected world's wide-ranging needs. As a community, we encourage participation in various academic and interscholastic activities to expand each student's sense of self, purpose, and potential and foster a spirit of respect and open-mindedness. Our graduates take this deep sense of community with them and build the same sense of community in their own families, neighborhoods, and workplaces. All independent schools have virtually the same mission: to prepare students to succeed in college. But an Episcopal education goes deeper, instilling not just skills and knowledge but values as well. Inclusiveness, compassion, kindness, integrity – these are values that are taught, modeled, and instilled across our school life. Respectful of all persons and all faith traditions, ours is a uniquely diverse and close community. Here, we are many. Here, we are one. The Primary School serves as the educational incubator for the HIES student. A student with a global mind, academically prepared for success in school, college, and beyond, a global heart with a sense of empathy for others in our neighborhoods, the country, and the world, and with global hands ready to serve and make a difference. When young students walk through our doors, they know they are in a place where they are known and loved. With a rigorous curriculum and a lot of love and guidance, we help them have their Best Start to becoming confident, courageous learners. They are eager to engage. They are ready to be challenged. Their eyes are wide open – excited to be at school! HIES is committed to the integration of technology in the classroom and throughout the educational environment. Technology instruction itself is incorporated into the curriculum and not taught in isolation. The HIES faculty has identified Baseline Technology Skills for each division and works to ensure that these needs are met. Technology is integrated into the curriculum in a variety of ways. In addition to general computer skills classes, each division incorporates various activities into specific subject areas. Examples include projects utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, and multi-media presentations. HIES students also participate in statistical analysis, video production, desktop publishing, digital photography, and various other activities. Students in grades five and above are issued Apple MacBook Air laptops for their personal use at school and home. Students in Primary School through 4th grade have access to iPad labs. HIES has a high-speed internet connection with wireless access throughout the campus. Also, the school has several traditional computer labs for instruction and multiple areas with computer stations for student use. All classrooms are outfitted with interactive whiteboards and projectors.
