- Hull's School was founded in 1945. In the 90s Hull's School became one of the larger independent schools in German Switzerland. Our four-year college program covers the UK Fifth and Sixth Forms. Students are prepared for IGCSE and A-level examinations. 85% of the students are German-speaking while 15% of the students are bilingual (English and German) or speak a language other than German as their mother tongue. 10% of the students do not have Swiss nationality. After the successful launch of an Adult College based on the British curriculum (IGCSEs and A-levels) Hull's School started an English 10th-grade program for Swiss and international teenagers which became part of a four-year program leading up to the British university entrance examinations (A-levels). Hull's School established itself as Zürich's 1st English College. The English College / High School prepares students for the British university entrance examinations (IGCSEs and International A-levels) which are fully recognized by universities in Switzerland (including the ETH and the world-famous St Gallen Business School) and all over the world. Most adolescents who join Hull's School very soon discover that they enjoy learning. English is very popular as a language of instruction The British curriculum enables them to discover their strengths and to succeed academically Difficult subjects frequently become less daunting when they are taught in English as teachers make linguistic allowances for students who are not native speakers of English The curriculum engenders independent thought and encourages team-work Students are introduced to different cultures and study two modern languages in addition to English The British curriculum enables students to succeed in Swiss universities and top universities abroad The teachers are English speaking Students receive free coaching in their weak subjects Students are given extensive pastoral support There is a wide range of exciting optional courses and extracurricular activities Students are encouraged to become part of the school's community by engaging in extracurricular activities. The aim is to involve students more deeply in the school, foster mutual support, and offer opportunities for students to develop their strengths and prove themselves as team players. Experience shows that students who are actively involved in extracurricular activities usually also perform better academically. Most leading universities outside Switzerland and all potential employers give preference to students who are both strong academically and interesting in terms of what they do in their free time. Contributing to the community is one of the key elements of life at Hull's School. Any students who invest 30 hours of their free time in work for the school community receive a Community Service Certificate. These certificates are expected by universities outside Switzerland and are also popular with employers. View full school
