    University of Huelva

The University of Huelva is a young dynamic institution, striving for excellence and a brilliant future for its 12,000 students. Our motto is Sapere Aude – Dare to Know in English. Since the university gained its independence from Seville University in 1993, it has continued to grow and we now have a brand new campus with modern facilities and installations. Students can choose from a wide range of both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and diplomas within our schools and faculties with an increasing number of subjects taught in English. We think Huelva is an ideal place to study not only because we endeavour to deliver high quality education but also becaAuse other aspects such as our location and privileged way of life make the whole university experience complete. The province of Huelva is situated in the south-west corner of Spain, with Portugal to the west, Seville and Cadiz to the east, Extremadura to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. The capital city of the same name boasts an enviable position nestling between the estuaries of the Rivers Tinto and Odiel. The city is a short drive away from the province’s spectacular 120-kilometre coastline of fine sandy beaches. The University is spread over four sites. The main and newest campus is El Carmen, to the north of the city where the Faculties of Experimental Sciences, Law, Humanities, Education Sciences, Labour Sciences, the School of Nursing and the School of Social Work can be found as well as state of the art computing facilities and the central library. The Faculty of Business Science is housed in a building of architectural merit next to the cathedral in the heart of the city centre and is known as La Merced . The Polytechnic is strategically located to the west at La Rabida, high on a hill overlooking the Tinto estuary and the city’s industrial areas where strong links have been formed with the University. The University General Registry and administrative centre is located in Cantero Cuadrado. A recent survey found that the Spanish were among those Europeans who spend most time studying. On the other hand it is said and widely agreed that Spain has one of the best lifestyles in the world. So it can be safely said that in Huelva our students both work hard and play hard. Huelva as a city offers a host of opportunities for leisure and entertainment from cinema, concerts and theatre, to bowling, restaurants, and tapas bars. Lunch and dinner are usually later than in other countries. Visitors should not expect to get lunch before 1pm or dinner before 8:30pm and in the hotter months even later! Huelva has something to offer everyone whether you like spending your weekends trekking along mountain footpaths or clubbing till dawn you are sure to find something. Being a small city (population 145,000) not only can you easily walk from the centre to the outskirts but you can also do it in safety. Huelva has one of the lowest crime rates in Spain. However, if you prefer there is an excellent urban bus service to and from the different university campuses.
