  1. We are a two-form entry community primary school maintained by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We have a Foundation Stage and admit children from three to eleven years old. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to our happy, successful, vibrant, and caring school. We see parents/carers as partners in the education of their children, and greatly value their contribution to school life. Children thrive when they feel happy, safe, and respected, and when they are set for challenging and stimulating work. We are committed to lifelong learning and have a thriving learning center for parents and the local community on site. We aim to: Develop a friendly, supportive, and forward-looking school that inspires everyone to achieve their best and make positive contributions. Deliver a rich, creative, and stimulating curriculum to raise the attainment of all children. Encourage and promote independence, self-discipline, and excellent standards of teaching and learning. Build an inclusive school community whereby all parents, children, and staff feel safe, proud, respected, and valued. As part of the curriculum, we have specialist teachers for Art and Music, who provide excellent art and music learning opportunities. We enrich our curriculum with theatre companies who come to provide drama and music workshops covering many of our topics. Children also have opportunities for off-site learning through visits to places of interest and learning, which are linked to topics. Year 6 also has the opportunity to stay in Kent for a week-long residential trip, where they learn through field experiments and outdoor learning. In our school, we recently introduced an amazing new scheme called JIGSAW. JIGSAW brings together PSHE Education, emotional literacy, social skills, and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. Teaching strategies are varied and are mindful of preferred learning styles and the need for differentiation. Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time. This enables each theme to start with an introductory assembly, generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike. The whole scheme is designed with six themes (Puzzles) for six half terms. All themes include the use of The Jigsaw Circle. The Jigsaw Circle is a tried and tested teaching approach, popularised most successfully in recent years by Jenny Mosley. It brings children and adults together to feel equal and valued so that they can share ideas, thoughts, and feelings. The aims of learning French at Stewart Headlam are to foster an interest in learning another language and to make it fun, to make children aware that language has structure and that the structure differs from one language to another, and finally to lay the foundations for future study.
