- Ysgol Glanrafon is a designated Welsh-medium school, which is situated on the outskirts of the town of Mold. The school was opened with 8 pupils only in the Bethesda Chapel vestry in Mold, on January 4th, 1949. It is from that little acorn that a strong oak tree has grown which has ensured that Ysgol Glanrafon is the undeniable success that it is today. The success of the school and its increasing numbers meant that it had to move very soon to a bigger building and to the present building where it is now situated on Bryn Coch Lane. We are very proud of the happy and close-knit community created here at Ysgol Glanrafon, where everyone, pupils, staff, and visitors all feel comfortable in the welcoming environment created here. Our aim here at Ysgol Glanrafon, as our Mission Statement states, is to “Attain the highest possible standards in a hard-working, caring, happy and Welsh school, where respect is shown to children and adults, giving everyone a fair chance to develop to their full potential”. The procedures have been planned to ensure that anyone with an interest in our school, can raise a concern and voice a complaint with the confidence that they are given serious consideration, and act upon any recommendations made if this is deemed necessary within an appropriate time scale. Parents who wish to move the complaint to the second stage should do so in writing to the school. The complaint will be acknowledged in writing within 3 school days of receipt, giving a short explanation of the complaint procedure and a target date for the preparation of a response. If the matter can not be dealt with within 10 school days, the complainer will be informed in writing as to when it is likely to be completed. The Headteacher and/or the Management team will allow the complainer to come to school to discuss the complaint having made an appointment beforehand. If he/she wishes, an opportunity will be given for the complainer to bring a friend or relative with him/her to that meeting. If it is deemed necessary, the Headteacher and/or the Management team will interview any witnesses and take declarations from the relevant persons. If the complaint is regarding a child, the pupil may also be interviewed in the presence of witnesses. The Headteacher and/or the management team will ensure that all meetings, telephone conversations, and any other relevant documents will be recorded in minutes. Once all the relevant facts have been gathered and collated, the Headteacher and/or management team will convene a meeting with the complainer to discuss or resolve the matter. Following that meeting, a letter will be sent to explain the outcome of that meeting.
