  1. Thomas Samuel Primary is a two-form entry primary school based in Walthamstow and operates as part of the Lion Academy Trust. Our pupils range from three to 11 years of age. We have a nursery provision for the Early Years Foundation, as well as provision from Reception through to Year 6. Currently, we have 420 pupils on the school roll. The school benefits from its location in a culturally diverse community – our pupils come from some 27 ethnicities, and more than 30 languages are spoken within the school. At Thomas Samuel Primary School, we believe that all children and students have a right to an excellent education to give them the best life chances irrespective of race, color, creed, or circumstance. We have high aspirations for our children, staff, and communities. At our heart is a dedicated team of staff who are committed to being part of a school that is equipped to enable all staff and students to make outstanding progress. We believe that obstacles and barriers both real and perceived can be overcome by clear, strategic, and targeted support that creates culture change based on sharing good and outstanding practice, collegiality, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. This underpins our high expectations and actions and drives all the staff to provide opportunities for our children to reach the highest possible levels of attainment and achieve exceptionally well in all walks of life. We believe that outstanding teaching and learning must be central to every decision made and every development introduced. We are an inclusive, caring school where every child matters. We recognize that all children have talents and abilities to celebrate, and part of our role is to help children to discover these. We challenge and develop our children to become curious, autonomous learners who are inspired and stimulated by a rich and varied curriculum that is appropriate to their individual needs. We develop children’s learning skills and, by setting high expectations and exacting standards, we prepare our children to flourish, and have high self-esteem and self-belief. Although working within the organization of an Academy Trust, Thomas Samuel Primary will always be a ‘community school. We aim to work closely with our parents, other schools, and organizations, building partnerships that benefit, not only our children but others in the wider community, both on a local, national and global level. We believe that access to outstanding education is a right for all our children and young people. We aim to work in partnership with schools, enabling a locally-based education improvement solution to develop organically and to ensure that peer-to-peer support drives standards and improves outcomes for pupils and staff. We believe in freeing teachers and leaders from bureaucracy to focus on providing the very best teaching, learning, and support that every child deserves. Schools that are part of the Lion Academy Trust will retain their own identity and continue to be the hub of learning in their local community. We want our Trust to become your Trust, a vehicle for you to make a difference in children’s lives. A driving force in releasing the potential in every child. View full school
