In each stage of our school's development process, we have achieved pages of outstanding records. The ideas of establishing the school are centered on human health. The major professional fields of Fooyin include nursing, medical technology, nutrition, infant education, elderly caring, environmental engineering, biotech, tourism &recreation, and cultural creativity. We dedicate ourselves to the learning field of the all-human health industry. Fooyin University was founded by Dr. Chang Peng Tu in 1958 at Tungang Town, Pingtung. In the beginning, it was a three-year "Senior Vocational High School of Midwifery," the first medical and nursing vocational school established with private funds. Dr. Chang Peng Tu was the first Principal. After four years of establishment, the school was changed to a four-year Senior Nursing and Midwifery Vocational School. Being excellent in running a school on the 10th anniversary in 1968, Fooyin was again promoted to five-year nursing and midwifery to cope with the domestic vocational education policy. This was also the first time that a vocational school was ever promoted to a five-year nursing school. Fooyin has been set up for a long time. It is a school with history and has always been the giant cradle of the country's nurses. In 1997, it was promoted to a technology university. At that time, all kinds of departments and colleges were established so that the research antenna was more prosperous. In 2002, the name was changed to Fooyin University, approved by the Ministry of Education. Our university consisted of the School of Nursing, School of Medical and Health Sciences, School of Environment and Life Sciences, and College of Humanities and Management. Currently, the school has approximately 10,000 students. The four significant colleges and departments are unique in mental and physical health. They are never out of date. Even in the more extreme environment and social development, talents for future markets are hard to get, especially those from the fields of elder extended care, nursing, green technology, product R&D and verification, health business management, agricultural biotech, creative tourism, etc. Each of them is the goal of the trend that is close to life. The school possesses the biggest nursing department and the only department of midwifery. We cultivate all levels of outstanding nurses in southern Taiwan. All the significant hospitals recruit the students before graduating. This school has a mission to increase nursing qualities and promote national health welfare. The courses are designed. The practice equipment is set up using the work field practice as the standard, including digital classrooms, nursing demonstration wards, the clinical simulation and learning center, the elder simulation experience, and the midwifery demonstration center. All the teaching facilities help the students learn all kinds of techniques and prepare them for the future by providing internships through well-planned industrial and academic co-operations. The Environmental Safety and Health Center is an administrative unit that supports the entire university. The director reports to the University President on affairs related to environmental safety and health. The mission of our university's environmental safety and health policy is to create a healthy campus that meets ecological, safety, comfort, and health indicators by committing to professionalism, caring, knowledge, educational philosophy, and a core value of "human health," that fully complies with environmental safety and health laws and related regulations, along with ongoing reviews and improvements to strengthen awareness and education among staff and students in environment protection, health, and safety measures.
