We are a rural, federated, twin site school and very lucky to be situated in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Clwydian Hills in Denbighshire. We are very proud of our ‘Caring and Sharing’ ethos and believe we provide a stimulating and exciting environment for our children with very strong links with our local communities. We have high expectations of and for the children in our care and aim to provide them with the best possible start to their school lives. We hope that our website will keep you up to date with the work and activities happening in and around our very busy, unique school. The LNF identifies annual literacy and numeracy expectations and will help children develop literacy and numeracy skills through all subjects in the national curriculum and by using a wide range of activities. All children are supported to develop sound literacy and numeracy skills. These skills are not just about learning English, Welsh and mathematics, they are about being able to use skills in different situations and across a wide range of activities. Literacy describes a set of skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, which allows us to make sense of the world around us. Numeracy is based on mathematical basics. Numeracy describes the set of skills needed to tackle real-world problems in a variety of situations by using numerical reasoning to plan how to solve the problem and then carrying out the mathematical procedures to find the solution. The Literacy and Numeracy Framework identifies annual literacy and numeracy expectations and will help children develop literacy and numeracy skills through all subjects in the national curriculum and by using a wide range of activities. This framework is being introduced on a statutory basis to support children aged 5 to 14. View full school
