St Faith’s is a thriving church school where children’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development is at the center of all we do as is promoting the Fundamental British Values. Christian collective worship is a significant part of our school’s daily life. We are committed to ensuring that all children develop as confident and enthusiastic learners who are well prepared for Secondary School and life-long learning. Our high-quality learning environment is one in which children can develop positive self-esteem, high achievement, respect for oneself and others, and ample opportunities to express and develop their creativity. At St. Faith’s we are fortunate to have enthusiastic staff, who are committed to high standards of education and behavior. The school has a wonderful “family” atmosphere, which gives children a secure and happy environment in which to learn and develop as young adults. We encourage a ‘can-do attitude for all our pupils. We actively encourage Parents and Carers to come and support us in school. Any time you can offer us to help out would be warmly welcomed. Our most recent Parental and Pupil Survey confirm that we have much to celebrate at St. Faith’s and we are very proud of all we have achieved. The results are once again extremely positive and we are particularly proud of the fact that 99% of parents said they are proud that their child attends St. Faith’s. Building upon the very good foundations laid in the homes of our children, we work in partnership with parents so that pupils leave our school as happy, confident, healthy, and responsible young people with a highly developed sense of duty. Over the last year, the Governing Board of St Faith’s has undertaken an important project – to reshape and redefine the values and vision of our school. We have done this by involving all stakeholders, including children, staff, parents, and governors, to ensure that the vision and values that are crucial to making St Faith’s an outstanding school have been discussed and agreed upon by everyone involved. The Governing Board would like to thank all those who took the time to contribute to this project. As soon as one walks into St Faith’s, it is immediately obvious that it is a Christian school and the governors wanted to ensure that the vision statement and values reflected this ethos at its heart. There are many values that we aspire to for St Faith’s, but the Governors decided to take all the values discussed by the respective stakeholder groups and distill them into five core values, which would then feed into a revised aspirational vision statement for the next 3-5 years. As a result, the governors had several deep, passionate discussions about which of the values are core to the future of St Faith’s: values that every stakeholder of St Faith’s should strive to achieve, and ones that are core to the character of every child passing through its gates to enter the world as an upstanding member of the wider community. To help us focus on the core values, we turned to The Lord’s Prayer. We discussed the deeper meaning of each line about life in the world today and how these matched the core values that all stakeholders felt were important and wanted to promote at St Faith’s. The National Curriculum in England is currently in a process of transition. During this academic year and beyond, the obligation to teach programs of study from the existing national curriculum will be disapplied and new programs of study and attainment targets will eventually completely replace the existing national curriculum. The main aim is to raise standards. Although the new curriculum is intended to be more challenging, the content is slimmer than the current curriculum, focusing on essential core subject knowledge and skills such as essay writing and computer programming. All maintained primary schools in England are required to follow the National Curriculum set by the Department for Education.
