  1. The Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar was founded in 1977 as one of the pillars of the development of the Herzegovina region. The University has eight faculties today, around 5.000 students enrolled in 26 study programs at the first cycle, 20 study programs of the second cycle, and three doctoral study programs. More than 200 professors and associates participate in the teaching process. Study programs are organized according to the Bologna principles. Additional University capacities include Institute of engineering, Institute for design and testing of materials and construction, Educational center, the International Centre for Philosophy, Institute for economic development, Institute of Biology and Chemistry, University Library, Multimedia Centre, International Relations Office, Quality Assurance Office, Centre for biotechnology and Centre for Career Development. University mission is to organize a wide range of educational processes of different contents and levels, to perform theoretically, applied and emerging scientific research, to become one of the leaders in the education of young experts necessary for the development of economy and society, as well as to promote the cultural and social development of our region and country. The vision is to create a relatively small and flexible University recognizable in the region of Mediterranean and further, with internationally recognized multidisciplinary educational programs based on the latest teaching methods according to the needs of local, regional, and international labor market to participate in the shaping of future and emerging knowledge and technologies and to introduce international standards into education in order to become a generator of the society development. As a part of the efforts to fulfill its mission and achieve the vision, University has good cooperation with national and international higher education and research institutions and local entrepreneurship. Apart from close cooperation with seven other public Universities of B&H, and membership in the B&H Rector Conference, Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar has signed bilateral and multilateral Cooperation Agreements with Universities in Spain, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovak Republic, Finland, Austria, Macedonia, Egypt, Norway, Albania, Greece, and Poland. Together with its partners and utilizing the teacher's and students' potential, the University is implementing several projects funded from different programs and aiming a broad scope of goals, from purely scientific to almost completely socially oriented. The most numerous projects that University implemented after the war are Tempus projects, closely followed by DAAD and WUS-Austria supported projects. IPA, Horizon, Erasmus+, and lately, Mevlana supported staff and cooperation development. Our firm is determined to continue and strengthen our potential applications for Horizon 2020 and other available sources. Student Union of the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar is an independent nongovernmental student organization aiming to support students in their activities and protect their rights. It is a member of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Student Association and the European Student Organization. Students of three technical faculties are additionally organized in a branch of the BEST organization, as the only participating university branch from B&H. As active members, they organize competitions and summer schools to provide additional value to traditional education. To strengthen the academic exchange and increase mobility from and to the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar, this institution is a partner in many mobility projects. The Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar recognizes internationalization as a critical element to promote its education quality. International mobility is one of the most successful mechanisms in preparing students for work and life in a globalized world and in acquiring or consolidating transversal skills, including knowledge of foreign languages, independence, initiative, flexibility, intercultural understanding, and sensibility, and international awareness. In this context, the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar has created diverse frameworks of international mobility so that its students can benefit from unique opportunities and to enhance, in a complementary form, the internationalization at home by offering an international and multicultural dimension to non-mobile students, through contact with international students and teaching staff who choose the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar as their host institution. The mobility of teaching and non-teaching staff and its international dimension are also critical elements of the policy for internationalizing the Dzemal Bijedic University of Mostar and its internationalization strategy. Our MISSION is to provide a wide specter of higher education and LLL services to the regional stakeholders, to focus on research excellence and local research opportunities to cooperate with the society in general, to fulfill the needs, and to promote the scientific, cultural, and educational heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our VISION is to develop small to medium size, flexible University striving for academic excellence with internationally adapted curricula recognizable regionally and internationally. We want to create new knowledge and technologies for the future needs, establish modern education methodology and multidisciplinary study programs, education for the international market, and introduce international standards in education to boost local social development.
