The Higher Education Opportunity Act requires institutions participating in federally funded financial aid programs to make information about student achievement available to the public, current and prospective students, current and prospective student loan borrowers, and current employees. Doane values the participation of undergraduate and graduate students in its institution-wide program to assess student achievement. This program is part of the institution's responsibility to monitor student outcomes and assure a Doane degree's continuing quality. Multiple strategies are used to gather information about student achievement throughout the college experience. Information collected as a part of the assessment program is used for assessment purposes only and is not used to evaluate individual performance. The college protects the confidentiality of data collected. We know each student brings something different to campus. A well-rounded education that applies directly to life. We reward students generously for what they've achieved in the classroom, making Doane's world-class education even more affordable. The Presidential, Board of Trustees' and Van Hoy Scholarships are reserved for first-time, full-time students. Students can receive only one academic scholarship and must meet specific GPA requirements and stay in good academic standing to keep it. Competing with the Tigers in the Great Plains Athletic Conference - one of the toughest in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics - is no small task. So while student-athletes earn their stripes, Doane can help them pay their way. Doane predicates its education on co-curricular learning, so awards are available for students competing on our nationally ranked forensics team, participating in our theatre department, or lending their talents to our music programs. Does orange and black run in your blood? Keep the tradition going. Doane provides a $1,000 grant to admitted applicants who have either a sibling currently attending Doane or had a sibling, parent, grandparent, or great-grandparent graduate from Doane. The grant is renewable for four years of college. Future leaders look no further. We offer 48 Doane Leadership Awards (DLAs), a $1,500/year award for students who show a knack for leadership. All admitted students with at least a 3.5 GPA are eligible to apply and must submit their application by early January of their senior year of high school. Doane University partners with the TeamMates Mentoring Program to provide $13,000 per year in institutional aid to students who have been in the TeamMates program for a minimum of two years and attend Doane University in Crete. Recipients must be accepted no later than February 1. This guaranteed scholarship is non-competitive and will be awarded to the student at the beginning of each semester up to four years. Recipients must maintain good academic standing to retain the scholarship. Note: This scholarship would be used in place of other academic scholarships should the student qualify. Doane University provides a limited amount of scholarship funds for international students. Scholarship funds are based on academic and potentially co-curricular merit, i.e., athletics, music, theatre, etc. International students may apply for academic scholarships by completing the Personal Statement on the International Student application. The Personal Statement should address the student's career interests, academic performance, including any special honors, and why the student should be considered for a scholarship. This is a competitive process, and therefore not all applicants will receive a scholarship.
