- Daramalan was founded by the Sacred Heart (MSC) Missionaries in 1962, and it has maintained a proud tradition of providing a Catholic education to students in Canberra since that time. Daramalan began as a boys' school for students in Years 5-12, but it has developed over time and is now firmly established as a leading co-educational school for students in Years 7-12. Daramalan is a caring and dynamic school community where we seek to promote and live out the MSC's charism. The charism of the Sacred Heart missionaries focuses on the love that Jesus showed each of us through His life and death and the belief that through experiencing and showing compassionate love towards all people, we can help make our world a better place. We are very fortunate to have several MSC as part of our school community, and with them, we work to keep alive the vision of Jules Chevalier, the founder of the MSCs. Despite being a large school, Daramalan College is concerned with individual students' needs in the pastoral, academic, physical, and spiritual dimensions. As an educational community, we place a high value on providing quality learning opportunities for all students. Our students achieve excellent academic results and have a reputation for being well prepared for further study or employment after school. There is also an extensive co-curricular program to complement the academic curriculum. Through the Pastoral Care structures, we aim to provide students with the support they require to achieve to the best of their ability. We hope that all students feel valued and safe in our school and participate fully in all aspects of school life. The College has excellent resources and staff who are very committed to supporting students in their learning. We aim to work closely with parents, and I encourage parents to use our Intranet and the college website to keep well informed about activities at the College. Daramalan College has a long and proud tradition of comprehensive and engaging Academic programs designed to cater to all our students in Years 7-12. Our programs are under-pinned by the Daramalan Academic Care Charter, which sets out and defines the vision for education at Daramalan College. Believing that the heart of education is the heart's education, Daramalan College aims to help all students grow into the kind of people they are meant to be before God and each other. The school seeks to offer an education that prepares young people for life, intellectually and socially and grounds them in a sureness about their future and values. Staff members strive to create a learning environment that reflects the spirit of Christ powerfully and faithfully and calls forth the best in all those who are part of the school. To engender our students a strong belief in God's love as manifested through the heart of Jesus, we need to be a Christian community developing the gospel spirit of freedom, loyalty, and concern for one another.
