Our research profiles involve researchers from several departments and researchers from other institutes of higher education in both Sweden and other countries. One of our most important missions is to ensure the development of knowledge and skills required in Dalarna so that we can continue to play our part in global development. We do not merely collaborate with regional business and industry; preferably, we are actively involved in designing courses to ensure the professional development needs within the community at large are met. One facilitator of this is that we have developed our virtual campus to allow for flexible studies wherever you live and whenever you can study. We offer open-learning forums and environments that are web-based, with many of our resources being accessible 24 hours a day. Using digital technology, we have created sustainable, global meeting places that allow for personal development and educational opportunities. Global responsibility forms the basis of the University's work with internationalization, with an international perspective permeating every organization, function, and department. The University must ensure that when its students graduate, they will have taken courses that adopt an international perspective and have themselves experienced what is meant by internationalization. The new vision defines our values: openness, courage, and responsibility. These will serve as watchwords in the development of the University. We co-create self-formation, education, and research in Dalarna and the world. Dalarna University has a management model for its organization and finances that have been integrated since 2007 to ensure quality. The model consolidates management by objectives with management by results. The policy document for the University contained within the model comprises Vision and Goals (Vision och övergripande mål) and the corresponding Strategisk handling plan (both are multi-year). Each spring, the University Governing Board reviews the Strategisk handling plan, including ongoing, long-range planning.
