Ysgol Bro Siôn Cwilt is a County Primary School for 3-11-year-old children. It was established following the reorganization of primary education in the area. In January 2010 a brand-new, purpose-built school worth over £4 million opened its doors in Synod Inn to receive former pupils of Ysgol Gwenlli, Ysgol Llanllwchaearn, and Ysgol y Castell, Caerwedros as well as several other friends. As a staff, it is our privilege to offer our children meaningful and exciting educational experiences through the medium of Welsh as well as the area’s indigenous Welsh culture. Our aim, with the help of parents, members of the community, pupils, and staff is to create a first-class community school that upholds the highest values in terms of education, language, and culture. Our first aim, when a child starts at this school, will be to ensure that he/she is happy here, for we believe that a child works best in a homely, warm, exciting, and happy environment. We intend to develop the whole child and create an environment that is safe, happy, and Welsh. We aim to create an exceptional learning environment both inside and outside the classroom. Additionally, the school will be an organization that builds on strong links with the local community and culture. The school’s enthusiastic and experienced staff are trained specifically to teach children of primary school age. They attend appropriate training courses regularly and will be developing expertise whilst providing a broad, rich, and balanced curriculum. The school will make every effort to ensure your children’s social development by encouraging them to forge healthy and happy relationships with their peers and with adults associated with the school. At the same time, they will be taught to be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others. We will be encouraging all children to work to the best of their ability and will be supporting their endeavors to develop individual talents. Every effort will be made to ensure that children work at an appropriate level and pace to fulfill their potential. If a child needs extra assistance, it will be arranged after consultation with the parents and with their support. Children are encouraged to take pride in their achievements and to develop a high level of self-respect and self-esteem in all areas across the school. As parents/guardians, you have a critical role to play in your child’s educational development, and you will have opportunities to discuss your child’s progress regularly with the staff and to learn how you can assist your child further. We hope that you will keep in touch with the school to be kept informed about your child’s progress and to obtain advice on how you can support him/her.
