  1. Covington Latin School is a co-educational, Catholic, accelerated, college preparatory high school offering a classical education. Since its inception in 1923, Latin School has operated under the Roman Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Covington, Kentucky. C.L.S. is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (S.A.C.S.) and has been certified by the U.S. Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School since 2003. Covington Latin has been profiled in U.S. News and World Report, featured as a "Cool School" by Fox 19 Cincinnati and ranked the #1 private school in Northern Kentucky by Cincinnati Magazine. Covington Latin School offers a unique program for academically talented students in the tri-state area. As its central purpose, C.L.S. aims to form Christian leaders by challenging its students to attain their academic, intellectual, social, and moral potential. The School's commitment to acceleration allows advanced fifth, sixth, and seventh-grade students the opportunity to learn in a safe environment with like-minded peers. For many of these students, acceleration offers a more challenging and rewarding educational experience than a regular grade process. Admitted fifth-grade students are eligible to enter either the Prep 7 year or Prep 8 year. Admitted sixth-grade students completing are eligible to enter either the Prep 8 or Freshman year. The decision to accelerate one versus two years is based on a joint determination between Latin School and each prospective student family. Admitted seventh-grade students are eligible to enter into the Freshman year. Covington Latin School admits academically qualified young men and women without regard to race, color, creed, ethnic or national origin. Our School Motto: Bonitatem, Disciplinam et Scientiam Doce Me (Teach Me Goodness, Discipline, and Knowledge) proudly lays out our mission. We aim to form and develop the whole person - intellectually, spiritually, and socially. Covington Latin School is a Catholic school that provides classical liberal arts education to accelerated high school students. Qualified grade school students can advance one or two years to begin challenging secondary school coursework that corresponds to their considerable aptitude and talents. Many students find an unparalleled sense of belonging here - the distinctive nature of Latin School allows it to fit our students' needs in a way that perhaps no other school can. The record of our students and graduates speaks for itself. The median SAT® and ACT® scores of our students are far above the local, state, and national averages. Not only do 100% of our students go on to higher education, but many enjoy the privilege of enrolling in their School of choice and often with substantial scholarships that significantly reduce or eliminate their college financial burden. Covington Latin School is much more than an academic community. New students are an indispensable part of our 95-year history of tradition, excellence, and fellowship. The Latin School community not only has a significant presence here in the tri-state area; it has also spread all across the world. The Covington Latin School forms Christian leaders in the Catholic tradition by challenging its students to achieve their most significant spiritual, intellectual, and social development level. The School's philosophy, curriculum, and practices promote moral integrity and academic excellence, leading students to find fulfillment in a life of service to others and a continuing love of learning while embracing the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the embodiment of the many leadership forms Covington Latin School strives to instill within our student body. At Latin School, we define leadership as one who can inspire others, live the faith, embrace challenges, express passion, achieve success, value tradition, and change the world. Extensive study and innumerable texts have been devoted to the ways that Jesus exemplified these various leadership attributes in His earthly endeavors and how His living presence continues to do so. Latin School students come to know Jesus and the many facets of His leadership through their theology courses in which they study the Church and how we come to encounter Him in the Sacraments. Students also invest time in building a relationship with Him in our weekly School Masses and in retreats offered at various times. They also learn to embrace His way of being a leader, that is, by being a servant when they are encouraged to be of service to one another and the wider community. Yes, Jesus is a great leader and our ultimate inspiration at Covington Latin School. May He continue to inspire our students as they, too, work to become the leaders of our local and global community View full school
