  1. Connell is an integral member of the Bright Futures Educational Trust (BFET), a partnership of North West schools committed to raising aspirations and driving up standards through a diverse education. As a BFET member, our college aims to create an environment where students can flourish as they progress through education into adulthood. Through our outstanding facilities and dedicated teaching staff, Connell aims to provide each student with the tools to pursue their passions beyond education and into employment. To this end, the College is driven by the shared values of hard work, integrity, and passion. We recognize and assess every student’s academic potential on an individual basis, ensuring that we develop not only their academic skills but also their confidence and self-belief. As a result of this dynamic, aspirational, and supportive approach, our students become ambassadors for their local and wider communities, developing all the while in an ecosystem that nurtures and inspires excellence. We are Connell Sixth Form College. We are different. We’re small, but we think big. We are here because we think East Manchester deserves the best. We are here to offer you a sixth form that will help you to achieve your aspirations. If you have the right mindset, then there are no limits to what you can accomplish. You will be an integral part of a caring and supportive learning community, not one face among hundreds of others. You’ll be taught by passionate teachers who will treat you as an individual. You will be challenged, but we will support you. You will learn, and we will guide you. Ultimately, you will succeed. When you leave us, you will be ready for the world: the world of university, of apprenticeship, of work. The world of discovery and possibility. We want to be part of your journey. The Bright Futures Educational Trust believes that hard work, integrity, and passion are integral to all educational experiences and indeed these values underpin the whole organization. At Connell Sixth Form College we also embrace these values and they form a very important part of the Connell experience. In addition to the BFET values, Connell also holds trust and respect as the foundation stones of this College. All members of the College work within this ethos. It makes our rule book very brief! All actions and words must be both trustworthy and respectful. If they are not, they are unacceptable to this College and the students and staff within it. The members of the Governing Body of Connell Sixth Form College are from all walks of life and they bring knowledge, skills, and experience to the Governing Body which continue to prove invaluable in the development of this new College. A Governor’s role is as a ‘critical friend’ to the College. Governors do not manage the College on a day-to-day basis but work as a group to develop the strategic vision of the College liaising closely with the Principal, Leadership Team, Staff, and Students. They provide valuable insights, and work as a sounding board, for ideas and plans to develop and enhance the provision of education at Connell Sixth Form College. Their role also includes the oversight of activities in the College and some Governors act as ‘Link Governors’ to gain specific knowledge of the various areas of the College. Through this, they keep the Governing Body informed on all aspects of the College. Governors are ultimately responsible for how the College is performing. This College is for any local student who wishes to go on to University, a higher level apprenticeship, or an A-level or BTEC entry job. Remember we offer enrichment programs and you will be taught by staff of the highest caliber. We will ensure that you are happy and well supported and feel part of the Connell community. We know that when you leave us you will be confident young people with good qualifications and able to go along whichever pathway you choose. Most Year 12 and Year 13 students at Connell Sixth Form College find life exciting and challenging. Our experience tells us that a secure and meaningful home-college partnership is the foundation for a good Sixth Form experience. Most students start their Sixth Form career with apprehension but they soon embrace it and thoroughly enjoy their time. However, from time to time, they will meet problems along the way and Connell College staff will be able to offer help to parents and carers when advice is needed for those times when the path is not as smooth as it should be. Here at Connell Sixth Form College, we have an excellent reputation for academic success and an outstanding record of student support. We are committed to ensuring that you receive the very best support with your exams. Our dedicated examinations team is here to provide the best experience through the most difficult time of your studies. Situated just 2 miles from Manchester City Centre there are excellent public transport links to the College and if traveling by car the College has its car park. Our comfortable Refectory and Costa Coffee are the ideal places to relax and rejuvenate before your exams.
