      1. Leading this energetic, talented and diverse community of staff and pupils is an extraordinary privilege. The next generation is growing up in a world full of promise, choice, and possibility. They are going on to pursue as yet unimagined careers and will face unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Daily, We have the pleasure of seeing the girls at College develop and mature into the young women who will lead the many cultural, artistic, scientific, and technological advancements that lie ahead. In preparing our girls to navigate and shape this complex and changing world, we recognize not only the importance of delivering academic excellence, but also of supporting and challenging the girls’ opinions, promoting independence and global diversity within our community, and nurturing a culture of tolerance, compassion, and resilience. These qualities are key to empowering our girls to thrive, both as they live and work alongside their friends and peers at College, and as they go on to lead successful and fulfilling lives beyond. We unashamedly put the well-being of our girls on an equal footing with their academic achievements and we are proud to develop intellectually curious, self-motivated, and enthusiastic young women. The college has an inspirational tradition of pioneering girls’ education, which we cherish, and we look forward to an innovative and exciting future. We would love to tell you more about it. Cheltenham Ladies’ College has been at the forefront of girls’ education for over 160 years. Our heritage and global reputation were founded on our pioneering approach to girls’ education and our future aims are no less ambitious. Our GCSE, A-Level, and IB results are consistently excellent, leading to College being named the top boarding school in the country for IB results in 2019. Over the last five years, College has consistently won several awards for academic excellence. College is passionate about the futures of our girls. While their academic achievements are important, these must go hand-in-hand with co-curricular activities that interest and challenge them, a community that supports them, and the opportunities to pursue their passions and learn from their failures. By nurturing well-rounded and self-confident girls, we help them to develop the skills they need to manage the choices and opportunities ahead of them, leaving College as an inspirational and empowered young women. Many arguments are surrounding the benefits and disadvantages of single-sex vs co-educational schools. Ultimately, each child’s education should provide an environment that is right for them, with teaching that inspires them, debates that challenge them, and opportunities that allow them to thrive. Our approach to education has always been to put girls first. We believe that the girls at College thrive in a single-sex environment. Girls develop resilience and confidence in a culture that encourages them to believe that nothing is beyond their reach or consideration. The success of this approach is demonstrated not only in their consistently outstanding exam results and extensive co-curricular achievements but through the well-rounded and inspirational women, they become. Whether a budding scientist, inspired artist, or talented sportswoman, we encourage them to develop independent thought and to support and challenge each other. Surrounded by the fictional worlds of Malory Towers, Harry Potter and St Trinian’s, misconceptions about modern boarding can be far-reaching and inaccurate, based on outdated perceptions and a degree of artistic license. In reality, 21st-century boarding offers our girls the opportunity to be immersed in a vibrant, diverse, and tolerant community of their peers, where they can express themselves and debate their views openly, help each other grow and learn, and develop friendships that are often life-long. From eating meals or watching a film together, to rehearsing for House Music or working on a group entry for the Upcycled Fashion Show, boarding houses quickly become a home from home. With over 160 co-curricular activities to choose from and a full and varied sporting program, boarding life at College offers girls an unparalleled experience in these important formative years. Modern technology has ensured family and friends are only a message or video call away. The pastoral structure between the school and the boarding house is designed to nurture and encourage our new girls to settle into life at College quickly. View full school
      2. Cheltenham College has been educating young people since 1841. Bestowed with stunning buildings and set in the heart of one of England’s most vibrant spa towns, we provide boys and girls with a modern first-class all-round education that prepares them for their next step onwards into life. We are an independent boarding school located at the heart of the Cotswolds. We educate boys and girls from the ages of 3 to 18 years old at Cheltenham Prep and then at our senior school, Cheltenham College. Learning is at the heart of what we do we want our pupils to be inspired to achieve high academic standards, leaving College with exam results they can be proud of. They will develop resilience and a spirit of adventure along the way. The pastoral care at College is something that everyone here takes pride in. This is the foundation that enables our pupils to gain confidence in themselves. Similarly, the opportunities provided outside of the classroom are second to none. This is a busy school offering outstanding provision within the sport, creative arts, and outdoor education. Our pupils can develop a range of interests that will last them a lifetime. Our community service program is a particularly important part of College life. This is an area in which our pupils gain an understanding of the importance of giving their time to benefit others, and in doing so, an appreciation of the value of service is gained. Our aim above all is to inspire young people who are willing to learn, ambitious to achieve, and keen to get involved. Boys and girls who join College at any age, will leave us as well-rounded young men and women, having fulfilled their true potential and gained a place at a top university of their choice. They will have been prepared for life beyond school and be able to contribute positively to society. View full school
